is it just my dumb thinking, or does the ATTESSA system help improve handling at higher speeds?

It helps at just about any speed, really. In the GT-Rs, the system maintains a rear bias of at least 95%(in R33s. R32s and R34s are 100%). The system doesn't transfer power until the rear wheels begin to slip.
Basically, the GT-Rs will behave like a rwd car until you start to lose traction.

ok thanks....some kid is trying telling me that the ATTESSA ETS system does not improve handling at all. i just needed another person to say it does so he can admit hes wrong. when he read what you said (i quoted you, linked it, and put your sn) he changed his words to "turning" instead of handling.

Actually that isn't 100% true.
The ATTESSA system in the R32 is different than that of the R33 and R34 not withstanding the Pro system in the R34, I'm talking in general. The major difference is in the R32 there is no preload on the 4wd clutch packs in the transfercase while in the R33 and R34 there is. So in saying that even when cruising the R32 is true RWD biased, while the R33 and R34 are transfering minimal torque to the front wheels, abit not much but there is at least 1% if you will. It really isn't % but measured in physical torque figures IE 1kg-m =(7.23flb)(9.8nm). This is variable up to 50kg-m.
Now while everyone has the misconception that front wheel bias or torque is only applied when the rear wheels break traction that isn't true. It's not remoltely true. You can achive up to 30kg-m without breaking traction in the dry. This is due to the other sensors it takes reading off of which are the G-force sensor and the throttle position sensor.
The R32, R33, & R34 all work pretty much the same in this aspect.

Lesson 116 Not all Skyline or GTR owner's know everything either. I'm still learning as well. Though if I do know something I like to share it :)
