1995 Jetta. Autozone obdll wont pull codes up, air bag light stays on for 5 or so min then when it goes out the check idiot light ignites. then the gomer light goes on and off as it pleases. The air bag warning only comes on on initial start up. Funny thing is every sensor, MAF and even the CAT have been nubeed. VW gave me a black felt pen along with the$700.00 bill so the lights won't hurt my eyes. Do I have a vote for the computer or should I make it a flower pot? any help , thanks

with the 1995 jetta the codes are really hard to pull with out the proper scaner this year of jettas you will most likely have to take it to the dealer of vw specailest shop to get the code pulled

I have a thread "VR6 Turns but would not start" Boschmann helped me out although at the end the car was take to the mechanic. The mechanic told me that unless the the check engine light stays on I will not get any codes off the OBD, and I have an OBD1 since the car was made in June of 1995, at least that what I think.

A generic OBD II scanner will not work. You can get a VAG simulator for a PC to pull the codes or you can try the method I suggested on Tacuvito's thread. The ECM will store past codes for a time even if the light goes out again.
