Clear coat issuses

ok, i was doing some clear coat experiments on old models, i started with clearing a scrap integra and it started to bubble, then i moved onto a old scrap viper and it was fine, then i noticed i cleaned the viper and it did not bubble, but heres my thing,then abut 3 weeks ago i had a honda accord and i just spent 4 months on and i sprayed the hood clear it was fine, i sprayed the car and it to started to bubble even after i cleaned it. so then today i clear my project elcamino and it was fine. why is it bublin on some cars and not others, it is a enamal clear. is becuase i cleaned it or what? what is going on? anyone else had this problem.? kind of frustrates me when it will work then sometimes bubble......

I'm not sure but I would like to share perhaps a similar experience.

I used to read from modelling articles that it is best to clean the model using distilled water before spray painting the body. The idea is that when dried, distilled water will not leave micro mineral deposits or stains on the model which may appear as dots or bubbles after spraying.

So I purchased 2 large bottles of distilled water (local "obscure" brand). Also bought a new water spray bottle which I poured some distilled water into. After cleaning the model I rinse the body with distilled water and let it dry. But I began to some dots appear on the body but I ignored. Upon spray painting dots began to appear.

Earlier I suspected it was perhaps the spray bottle which I had not washed before filling it with distilled water. So on my second attempt I thoroughly washed the spray bottle, fill it up with distilled water again, rinsed the model body with it, but dots still appear when dried. This time I did not spray paint since the end result may appear again.

Either the distilled water I bought was of inferior quality else there's something wrong with the spray bottle. Anyways, I reverted to tap water and the problem stopped.

I'll try another brand of distilled water the next time.

Maybe the paint is enamel or acrylic while your clear coat is a laquer?

This sounds the most likely explanation, mixing different paint types. Refer to the FAQ, Daggerlee wrote a lot of good stuff on paints.

no i made sure to get enamal clear and i only use enamal paint, i dont have a picture but i could get one
