what exactly does a cold air intake do?
How much would it help my 3.8 v6 5sp bird?
Is this mod worth the money?
How long does it take to bolt on.

cold air intake works on the premise that the air outside the engine bay is relatively cooler than the air inside the bay. essentially it isolates the intake filter from the air in the engine bay in some way, be it building an air tight compartment around the filter or locating the filter outside of the engine bay. the f-bodies do the latter. the CAI for f-bodies generally put the filters in the driver's side fender. CAI is generally good for 5 to 6 practical horsepower and will also increase your gas mileage. i would definitely say that it is worth the money...

i bought an air intake off ebay new for $50 dollars its not k&N or anything but it doesnt really matter your basically paying for the name and the filter that came with it is really good. Also you can try doing what i did and run pvc piping down to the fog light area and you will have ram air. if you just want the air intake its really easy to put, wait now that i think about it mines a V8 so i dont really know what your car looks like under the hood. Pretty much all you do is disconnect the stock filter right after the mass air sensor and put on the aluminum one they give you. you wont really be able to feel the difference but it will sound better.
