Need new engine... Help !!!!

My buddy just bought a 95 Eclipse GS-T with 80,000 on it. He was driving it home and it started knocking bad. The number 2 rod bearing had failed, it trashed the crankshaft and the rod. The dealer is going to give him $500 for damages. What whould be more cost effective, a rebuild job or a used motor. If you guys think that he needs a new motor then where can he get a good deal on one... THANKS.:alien:

Tell your friend to purchase a 92-94 4G63 (turbo of course) and tell him to buy 2g pistons with 8.5:1 compression ratio. His motor will have have a solid building ground from there.

That the crank can take up to 500hp with any mods! That's with stock internals.:flash:
