Short circuit-no start

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum but I have a quick question. 97 Astro van, the power wire from the battery to the starter rubbed through on the engine cross member. I pulled it back, taped it up and secured it so that it can't rub anymore. I though that this would allow me to drive it to the shop and put in on a hoist; however, it won't start now. It cranks but has no spark. I can't find a blown fuse, is there a fusable link somewhere or did it fry something? Thanks
Nick

there should be a fusable link coming off the alternator .

check all your fuses and check if you have spark. could be the ignition module. among the easiest to check.
