Dome light trouble

Hello all, I'm new to the board and was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on a problem I'm having with my 2002 trailblazer. I had a dome light bulb go out on me and discovered that the housing that the bulb sits in (silver tab things) were lose and not keeping both sides of the bulb in contact. Well I took a pair of pliers and attempted to squeeze them together to make the connection tighter and it sparked like it blew a fuse and they haven't worked since. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong? I was thinking a fuse but can't figure out what fuse box etc. because they aren't labeled. Thank you for any help/suggestions.
