shifter drive4 blinking wtf??

My 92 honda acccord is an automatic and the d4 or drive position keeps blinking with its green square what does it mean. The manual says it could be a malfunction in the tranny but is it serious please help if possible.

hey man. i just posted a similar message ast night hoping somebody would help me out, then i when all the way through page nine i think it was until i found a similar case. i then called my mechanic today and he told me that it could be several things. check all the dashbord to see if they are working prperly (make sure they move when you move). if they are all fine then it is probably like you said the tranny. i was told by the guy i called (and i also read it in the post that i came across yesterday. that i coul also be the transmission control unit that is gone bad and the timing is off which will screw up with your gears. as i found out yesterday and confirmed it today with my dealership, the damned gadget will run at about $500 bucks. check to see if the rpm is consistent with the gear and speed you are traveling at. in my case (I have a 94 accord) the rpms stay high while cruising while they get real low while in idle (today i even had to check a couple of times to make sure my car was still running since it was so quiet) anyways i made this reply kind of long because i really have nothing better to do right now. the esaiest thing to do is to hook it up to the computer adn it will tell you exactly what is wrong. the blinking green light is just letting you know there is someething wrong with your car, i dont know about you, but im hoping that in my case its not the trans. control unit, i dont have 500 buck to spend right know, but maybe your rich who knows, anyways, good look and hope you solve you problem.

Read the Tranny code is the only thing that will tell you what happened.
If your car stock with high gear and no down shift, and it runs great at high speed, then, there is nothing wrong with the actual transmission, it's your TCM - transmission control module. Located under the floor of the passenger. Around $600 new from dealer and $400 robber fee, oh, I mean labor fee for loosing and tightening couple nuts and bolts.
You can get a used one for around $100 in junk yard.
