I just decided to buy a 1980 Firebird Trans AM. Its jet black with black leather interior, and has all the bird decals on it. It was changed over to a 400ci motor and has a 350 transmission, with headers and a cam. The exhaust is new and everything seems ok on it, I was just wondering what are some problems i might run into with this car. Are there any good places to find replacement parts for it, mostly for the body, and what kinda horsepower does it probably have.

anything your gonna need with that car can be found at one of these sites:
www.yearone.com (http://www.yearone.com)
www.classicindustries.com (http://www.classicindustries.com)
or if your having trouble finding a specific part just search google for it. usually you can find it.

I have a '79 myself, and I know it only puts out at the most 210 horses. But it has the T/A package engine (6.6L V8) where I think most TA's had just the stock 403 Olds, which puts out 185 horses. Trans Am's were never "powerful" muscle cars, most people wouldn't really consider them one. Don't get me wrong, they look nice, and it still goes fast, but it's not the best car out there. As for the black on black, sounds good. What color our the decals? I'm assuming gold since that's what basically every Trans Am I see has these days. Everyone likes Black and Gold for some odd reason... Anyway, hope I helped out a bit, I'm not the best at giving advice :)
