1990?

My uncle has a 1990 suburban that i would like to have but it smokes white out of the exhaust. The outside is decent besides a few dents. He said that he would sell it to me but he said for me to give him a price. I dont want to pay too much but i also do not want to go to low and make him think that i think he is stupid. What do you think its worth.?

The thing is the person who had the truck before him had a problem with the fuel injection so they just took it off and put a high rise intake and a holley carbuerator on it. Also i was told that if the smoke is white its coolent. So could it have the wrong intake on it?

...or it could have a blown head gasket or a cracked head. You won't know whats wrong with it without some diagnostic work. Valve stem seals will cause blue smoke right at start-up and then go away. White smoke (steam) from the tail pipe is almost always coolant. When it leaves the pipe, you'll notice that steam will fade all about the same time the same distance from the pipe. Smoke will more fade away and break up.
I'm not sure where you're located and auto prices vary greatly through-out the country. I would look around in local newspapers and see what the market is bringing there.

Can you just change a motor from fuel injection by putting a new intake on because i thought maybe it could be the wrong intake on that motor. And that could make it leak coolent into the cylenders right?

Also Could someone tell me what egr is and if a 1990 suburban would have it?

Wrong manifold could cause to burn coolant. Not likely the problem though. Remember that water leaking into a cylinder can do some wicked things to an engine especially on trying to start.
EGR is exhaust gas recirculation and the 1990 does have it. EGR valve should be on intake manifold just behind and to the left of the TBI. EGR solenoid would mount next to TBI on passenger's side.
