Fuel Filter

I'm new here and I have a couple of questions. I have a 1996 blazer 4x4 and I wanted to know how do you change the fuel filter? I disconnected the fuel lines from it and took a bolt off from the clamp but it still did not come out. My second question is what is the best way to get to the spark plugs to change them? It seems nearly impossible to get to them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I was going to do that but they wanted to charge me $110 just to change the fuel filter and spark plugs.

There is only one spark plug that is a major pain, the others are all manageable through the wheel well or from above. the one however needs a double flex type wratchet/socket. It has to bend twice in order to get around the steering wheel shaft. As far as the fuel filter, I dont understand how its remaining on. It is an inline fuel filter under the driver side door mounted to the frame with one bolt. Once the bolt is removed and the lines are removed and pulled away from the filter, it just falls off.

I removed the lines and the one bolt that holds the clamp but it still did not come out. Should the whole clamp come out with the filter or does the filter just slide out? Thanks for the help

yea, the clamp comes off too unless its rusted on or soldered/welded, which it shouldnt be.

The clamp is also holding three other lines above the filter so maybe its stuck on those.

I had the same problem on my '02 Blazer, the clamp is a major bitch, I sprayed some slicone lube all around it, and that seemed to help. On the '02 disconnecting the clamp completely did nothing because the clamp is still clamped to the fuel filter, just not the frame. Try spraying some kind of lube on it, and lots of muscle should do the job.

I did finally manage to change it. The clamp was stuck on those three other lines. I practically broke my fingers trying to snap those lines out of the clamp but I managed to do it. Thanks for the help

i just changed my spark plugs and wires. wear long sleeves and prepare for your hands to take a beating. i look like i got in a fight with a werewolf. 5 are relatively simple, but all are a really tight fit. on the left side, i went through the wheel well on two of them and that helped. also, the middle plug on the right side is the hardest. it took me a couple of hours. the steering runs right at the plug. i had to get really creative with my craftsman sockets and my wrenches. it's definitely do-able (i did it and i'm far from a mechanic), but make sure you have some spare time and a patience.
