Hi all
i have a 95 Gmc Jimmy Suv, 4 door , 4.3 v6.
It starts fine, idols a little rough.. when i accelrate from a dead stop it bogs down and sputters but it still does accelrate.. at the high end of the accelration it smooths out for a bit..
once im at a steady speed it starts doing it again and continues till i accelrate again and then smooths out at the highend for a bit. but then it falls back into the sputtering at steady speeds.. and so on and so on and so on.
i have been reading the other posts that look similar to my issue but non of them seem to Match..
Any help would be great

Probably the cpi. Take off the vortec cover on top of the intake and then remove the round valve I think it has two torx screws. Then shine a flashlight down the hole. If it's clean on either side your cpi or fuel lines are leaking.

Who said computer? The cpi is the spider injector. They call it the cpi.

You wont smell it under the hood cause it's a internal leak. But you should smell a strong odor (unburnt gas) from the exhaust. Also take off and check the EGR valve for chunks of carbon sticking it open.

Where can i find the EGR Valve?
Front center of motor. Two bolts hold it in and it's round looking with a plug connected. Here's a link to pic so you'll see what it looks like. http://www.rockauto.com/ref/ACDelco/Detail.html?214-5593.jpg Hope the link works.

thanks for the help... tomorrow i will finally have some time to work on the car...
New development!
on the way home from work today the jimmy was doing it's usual sputtering thing when the rpms capped out under 2k and it would not accelerate then it just stalled... i pulled over and it hesitated when restarting and then did its usual sputter home it was real strange.. any ideas?

ok today i decided to take a look at the Egr valve. .. well removed the whole air filter thingie and then just for the hell of it drove the car around the block... pretty much almost ALL of the sputtering disapeared. ... i reassembled the air assembly and left the out the o2 sensor... same thing... ran so much better..
Well i put the o2 sensor back in but didnt plug in the sensor and seems to run fine a little rough but im pretty sure i have a bad sparkplug...
let me know what you think..
also where are the plugs on this damn motor?

honey, do you have an owner's manual? have you ever looked anything up on the internet? do you know what plug wires are? you can follow them to the plugs...one of them is going to be a bitch, i'll let you see if you can figure out which one... :icon16:

Jesus, can you be anymore stupid?
Running around with the air filter assembly off?
Did you even LOOK at the EGR valve and see any carbon in it?
