98 jetta problems

my g/fs jetta is giving some promblems
first it sounds like the exhaust is loose or scrapping but its been in the shop many times and same thing it usually happens more when cold
next sometimes the idle will become erractic but it usualy stops
last the suspension is getting real loose could this be because of worn front shock mounts or what else should i look for it has 154000 miles on it
any help will be appreciated
