Hi, i want to change the stock exhaust for a 3" or 2 1/2", what do you recommend to do?. I'm going to order the next upgrages to my GTP, (i want to make 9's or less on 1/8 mile)... what do you recommend to me? (actually I run 9.40's on 1/8 mile).

Actual Mods:

Removed Cat and U-Bend
Removed "T", already have installed a "Y" in the exhaust.
Autolite 104's
Custom Cold Air Intake
Removed TB Screen

Future Mods:

TB Spacer
3.25 SC Pulley
NGK TR6 plugs (gapped by ZZP)
Tranny Cooler
Remove Resonator
Fenderwell Intake with 9" K&N cone filter with 4" output
Change stock exhaust for a 3" or 2 1/2" <------- ??????
ZZP Drilled Tstat 180

Thanx a lot !

Unless you plan on doing Major mods such as an intercooler, headers, and lots of boost, I suggest you keep the stock setup, it will save you money you can spend on far more important mods. Its very debatable how much 3" piping helps until your far into the 12's.

i dont think id go with the 3 inch thats pretty big for a car have u ever seen 3 inch tips those are cannons and to think of going all the way back with 3 inch is nuts, for an exhaust system to actually work properly with high flow is still needs some back pressure so i think 3 inch is to big i was going to go with 2 1/4 pipe highflow cat and magnaflow high flow exhaust on my 1995 GTP.

Like pack said, you really don't need 3 inch piping unless your going to very heavily modify the thing. 2 1\2 inch pipe will be a good upgrade if you plan to grab a set of headers eventually. The extra diameter will help dump the extra header gas flow nicely.

3" catback has worked pretty good for me. If I had it all to do over again I would save my money and just get some mufflers and a cutout

Thats the MSP catback. If anything I wish I had dual tips. Dont really care for the singles anymore.

Looks much better now that the car is lowered though.

Well I installed the SLP Headers. They are 3" all the way up to the OEM muffler(2 1/4" Exahust). And the car really took of with that. As IH8RICE high flow is good but always there is the need of a little backpressure. What I would do is install 21/2" and then install headers(most of them come 3" all the way)

it's a v6, and the stock is 2 1/4, so go with the 3". that's not that big, but enough to notice a difference and support more mods in the future, if that's what you plan on. i don't think buying a system that gives you an extra 1/4" in diameter is even worth the thought.

Not sure about stock 97-03s but the 04s are 2.25" to the T and then they are only 2" back to the mufflers.

Well the other day I had to change the tip retainers and I had to use 2.25". I am not sure about the diameter before the resonator tought.

The inner diameter of the pipe on an 04GP from the T to the mufflers is 2"

even if the diameter is only 2", i'd go for the 3". more room for supporting more mods in the future. plus it will sound good. :p

Yeah. My problem is that it is hard to look like a sleeper with big ass dual 3" pipes under the back of the car. I still have the ugly 04 stock tips. :eek7:
