Hey guys I really need your help and I need an answer relatively soon. I might be getting a 91 hb standard...which is basically the CX of the 4th gen. The problem is its a 4speed manual, and I would want to swap in a 5speed b16a. I know when you have an auto and change it to manual its costs quite a bit to change it over. But I'm not sure with the swap I want to do if having the 4speed manual will have to be changed to a 5speed. Please I need help with this. Will there be any extra costs putting in the b16a? Thanks a lot inadvance.

What tranny will you be using? It should be 5speed already. You will have to use the shift linkage from the b16 and since you arent going from auto to manual there shouldnt be any other problems with it.

the engine and tranny I would be using would be from the JDM b16a. I just wasn't sure with it being orignally a 4speed manual if it would make a difference if I changed it to a 5speed manual. Anyone else know if this will cause a problem?

Should be no problem engine and trans wise, but you are going to have to change the hubs to dx/si hubs in order to use the axles for the b16.

How does using the DX/SI hubs make a difference? Why wouldn't the axles normally fit? I do have 15" honda optional wheels I could put on. Would those be fine? thanks in advance

It is how the axles fit into the hubs that is the problem. HF and STD models have different hubs than the rest. So to use the axles you need to change the hubs. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, although I am pretty sure.;)

yeap, you'll have to change the hubs....If you need a set let me know. I have an extra set of 91 SI front knuckles(with the bigger brakes and everything).

Hey guys, thanks for your input. I was talking to Vince on the side and he said it would be very hard to take a non SI and drop in the B16a. I can get the Hasport mounts and the JDM engine and tranny. I was wondering what else would I need? Thanks a lot inadvance.

You will need a modified shift linkage from a place like Hasport or HCP. I believe you will need to convert your fuel injection from dual point to multipoint. There is a good article about this on www.hybrid.honda-perf.org You will also need some othe things like radiator hoses, wiring for vtec and a few other sensors. You will also need axles if they don't come with the trans and motor. If you need more info check out the tech/swap sections at www.hasport.com :)
