SR20VE Question

A guy has a a sr20ve engine in his Primera. He put in a cold air intake and performance extractors, and he now runs the quarter mile slower than other sr20ve primeras that are stock. Now I have a sr20de engine in my primera, so i was wondering what could have caused him to constantly run slower (becase he was getting beaten by about 2 car lenghts), and would the same thing happen to me with my sr20de because i was planning to do the same upgrade?
If this is a dumb question please bear with me, i'm new at this sort of thing.

Performance extractors? What's that? The cold air intake should not have made it slower, that's impossible. I don't know what Performance Extractors are, but, sounds like some type of exhaust? The only thing I can think, no offense to your friend, is that the other VE drivers can drive better... :)

Thanks, but I don't really know the guy. All I know is that is extractors were stainless steel, they weren't stock. Anyway atleast I know it's safe to go with the intake.
