I own a 2004 Malibu and am traveling. Left my manual at home and need to check steering fluid. Can't find any kind of reservoir to add fluid to. Does anyone know where that is on this car. Anyone else having trouble with Power Steering cutting out when the car has been driven for some period of time? Don't know if it's fluid or some kind of electrical or mechanical problem. Going to the dealership tomorrow but need to get home tonight. Any Ideas?

The new Malibu has electric power steering so there is not power steering fluid to check.

Going to the dealership tomorrow but need to get home tonight. Any Ideas? If this happens try cycling the ignition and see if starts working again. You need to take to dealer, they will likely replace column.

And, per a recent post on Edmunds.com's Town Hall, likely will replace the power steering unit as well. THAT problem, I believe was noted by the Info Center as "Power Steering Failure". Or maybe that was another problem. This car is becoming a mess. I'm glad I'm waiting for an '05, or maybe something else....

Actually there is a sensor in the column itself which is usually the part causing the problem. This does result in Driver Info Center displaying Power Steering and the Service Vehicle Soon Telltale coming on. The motor/controller assembly is a separately serviced part.
