Hey, Im gonna drop a 302 into a 67 Mustang Ive bought, but I wanted to do what mods I could before I drop it in. I wanted to know what were the best mods for power that I could do on an old 302, for the money. I was hoping to build up to 300hp or more, but looking to spend like 2k, maybe a little more. Thanks!

Make sure you budget some "whoa" power too. These older Stangs didn't have the best braking systems.

Sorry, I didnt get the initials, but Im guessing H is for heads, C ? I dont know, and I is intake manifold? If its that easy Ill go for 350 or 400 hp then.

So exactly how quick would I run a 1/4 if I had a 4 speed tranny linked up to my 300 hp 302? Im aiming for somewhere in the 13's

I doubt you'll see 400hp just by slapping on heads, cam and intake. It will also depend on what carb your running, the fuel system will need to be beefed up, the internals of the motor will also need to be addressed if you want to run upwards of 400 hp, maybe even a R block for saftey. Not to mention that with that kinda of power your going to need a highly tuned suspension to get all that hp to the ground.

If you are looking to spend 2k on parts for your 5.0 and get over 300 hp. Theres a kit through summit racing that im looking into. Gives you a stage 1 cam, twisted heads, intake ...well look at it it goes for like 2k and go to www.summitracing.com and search for stock number:
TFS-k514-350-370 I'm really serious myself about this and with this everything is Trick Flow and works together but does require knowing what the hell your doing. But anyways good luck and if you do get this let me know hoow it works... Im still trying to save the 2k for it. LOL

I think holley's new carbs are the finest for the old mustangs, thats what i got on my 71. Are you running a manual or electric choke?
