as the subject says i'm going to be trading my '02 Protege5 for a 2000 MPV ES. we simply need more space.
anyways i haven't had any problems with the 5 (77,000kms), infact i'd hate to part with it, so since the 5 has been great, we wanna stay with Mazda.
anything to be aware of?
how are the 2.5L V6 engines?
how is the auto tranny?

thanks in advance,
andrew

Well, the car itself has enough power if you only drive yourself and maybe a passenger or two. The 2.5 runs smoothly, but it isn't enough to power the weight of the car, therefore, if you turn on the AC or the defrosters, the car is quite slow. Also, you won't get any power below 4000 rpm for the most part. The auto tranny is quite good actually and according to my local dealer, they have never had to replace or reman. one so they should last. ONE THING HOWEVER, do NOT use 20/50 weigh motor oil because it will lead to jerky starts and slips.

Had a 2000 MPV and liked it so much we traded for an 03. We love it even more.
