I'd like to see the toons larger.

Have you ever tried colored pencils (prismacolors) on Canson paper?

Prismacolors are like synthetic oil based as opposed to wax based so the mix like paint (to a certain degree).

You can layer colors and burnish (apply thick blended coats).

I have a feeling you would do very well in just about any medium you attempted.
