I've been looking for a sports car for a while now, and I saw a Nissan 240SX today. It is a 93 SE automatic, sunroof, pretty much all of the options, with 95,000 miles. The body is in decent condition, you wouldn't have to really fix anything to drive it. They are wanting 2000 for it, is it worth that if it drives well? Is there anything that is a common defect that I should check on it? And would this be a good street racer? :1zhelp:

If you don't mind the auto then 2000 is a pretty good deal IMO since you said everything is in pretty good shape. Look under the rear spoiler for rust, that's a common problem on s13's. "would it be a good street racer?" What do you plan on doing to it? But my opinion, keep it on the track... I just got owned hardcore last night with a street racing ticket. I'm done.

no clue on the fines yet. I go to court May 21st. I've already got a lawyer setup and he's said to be the best here in the beach (which he better be for how much I'm spending on him), so hopefully I can get out of it.
I was racing a turbo del sol. Nissan power owns hondas. The cop pulled out and went around the del sol to come get me..... On the ticket he just wrote "reckless driving - racing", but when he pulled me he told me he clocked me at 120 in a 25, which would be about right.
This is without a doubt the stupidest thing I've ever done, so before anybody wants to go and tell me how stupid street racing is, just save it because I've definately learned my lesson after this.

I don't really plan on hardcore street racing, I just want it to be able to stand up to the other cars at my high school. About how fast would it go stock?
There are only a few people around that have fast cars that would actually race. There is a 350Z and a base model Mitsubishi 3000, and I would say that they are probably the best cars at my school out of the students. (The teachers have cars like Corvettes, Audi's, and BMW's)
But I would like to know about what its max MPH would be stock, and about what the 1/4 would be if you could tell me.

i don't think you could beat the 350z or the 3000gt, especially with an auto

120 in a 25 an no jail time? You must not be in SoCal haha. 110 in a 45 got me a few hours in jail and a 1200$ ticket. I said I'd be done too, but months later it was "one more time" and then another time...
Anyways, street racing is a bad bad thing. Especially when you can't stop doing it. It's like hard drugs. Just go to the track, it's way safer in every aspect. Plus you get timeslips to back up all your bragging.
I don't know about a S13 auto being a "sports car", but then again a "sports car" is a state of mind, which has been proven by the Honda crowd. I'd learn to drive stick if I didn't know how, it's so much more rewarding.

in california, anytime you do double the speed limit, don't you get your lisence taken away
that's good cuz you did about 6x the speed limit, not 2x

I too recommend learning how to drive stick/purchasing a manual car.
The 240 could own the 3000GT SL with the right mods. The 350z would fall too, with more money.
I wouldn't bother trying to race either in the first place tho, there would be no prestige in it, not yet.

I am so sorry J Spec. The damn po-po are everywhere. That is a bunch of shit that he came after the nissan over the honda. I guess he figured the honda wouldn't be that big of a bust. Why didn't you turn down a side road? Thats what my friends and I have done. We've been racing at about 120 and passed cops. They slam on the brakes and we just cut down back roads and make as many turns as possible. Really sorry to hear that about you though. Hopefully you don't lose your license. Just tell the judge you had a severe leg cramp. lol
