Im quite mad, the only Pontiac GTOs(2004) ive looked at are automatics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! Im trying to get my dad to look at them, so i was looking for a cool one online and every single one was auto! In fact, whenever i hear of someone who checked them out they have always said that the ones they saw were auto, have you guys actually seen any manuals!!!???? Sorry, had to vent. What would you guys buy Manual or automatic?

No I havent's seen one, and we probably never will. Anything you see sitting in a dealer window will be an auto. Pontiac does make the new GTO with a manual, but you will most likely have to get it custom ordered with the manual transmission straight from Pontiac.

I can't drive manual, so it'd be an automatic for me! :) Every muscle car I own/will own will be an automatic! They're easier to drive and easier to burn out in ;)

There are 2 6-speed GTOs in the showroom at Ferguson Pontiac in Colorado Springs, CO. One is red, one silver with a black 6-speed car due in a week or so.

I checked it out today and have to say that it is more impressive from the inside than the outside. I think they did great on the instrument layout. The Tremec 6-speed has a very short throw and is very precise. From the outside it still doesn't get me excited about it being a GTO. Forget the argument that the first GTOs were sleepers in an ordinary Tempest/Lemans body and that this is the same idea. When the guy started it while I stood behind it the exhaust hardly had enough rumble to make me notice. I drove next to an 04 Cobra a week ago and the exhuast sound made me think the car meant business. I know its all part of the 'presentation' in a muscle car package, but the Pontiac could have spent a little more time tuning the exhuast and splitting the pipes like a true dual exhuast car should be built.

Nice car overall and the salesmanager was ready to see me drive away in it. He claims that they are the 'only dealership' selling the GTO for MSRP and that all others are marking it up several thousands of dollars.
Price was $33,190.

around here thats the same price, but if $33.190 is the price for the manual thats a bit lower than msrp. Everyone says that the exhaust is wonderfull sounding in the new GTO, so i dont know. Here look at this-
http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=3&article_id=7360&page_number=1
"Best of all, the GTO vents USDA Prime V-8 grumble out of a genuine dual exhaust (the Monaro's interconnecting H-pipe is there, but blocked off for meatier noise). The pops and thuds of backfires on the overrun sound positively illegal, like you'd pulled the cans and were heading for Paradise Road."

Who's complaining?? YOU ARE!!

Maybe I have a very different perspective of a muscle car than you, but I still only see people stating that 1) they haven't seen a 6speed car, and I indicating that I would like to see a car be more aggressive in a couple of ways to live up to its namesake. I didn't just get into this hobby last week. I've owned my first GTO since 1986 and have a great appreciation for all muscle cars.

I own 5 69 GTO's-one is a RAIII Judge, and an M code 69-1/2 440-6bbl lift-off hood Roadrunner. My Judge and Roadrunner are both original cars and have not had their engines out, ever. The Roadrunner will give every modern muscle car a good run and beat most. There is a difference between a muscle car and an exotic and even though I can run with a viper, they are in 2 different classes of cars.

No complaints here, just a couple of observations. Drive your 2 door Jimmy down and trade for a GTO.

Hmmmm.....maybe I should have added a smilie. My comments were tongue in cheek and not directed at you personally.

Why do you think my comments were directed at you personally? They were not. The this thread was started by someone who was 'venting' or complaining. Of course the venting was lighthearted, as was my comment.

BTW I also own an original '69 GTO, as well as a thoroughly massaged Olds 455, '68 Ford with a 429, as well as an assortment of Jeeps and three later model daily drivers. Ironically enough, all but one are automatics.
