I'm looking to buy a first car and I've been looking for some time at all types of cars. I went to check out a 1995 2DR Cavalier Coupe today. It has 107,000 miles on it, automatic, it drives nicely, the brakes aren't great (but I researched online that it's an actual problem for all Cavaliers; they're not horrible, but sometimes are spotty). The engine had some area where it looked oily, the guy said it was 10W40 he sprayed (and it was in the area that is generaly sprayed with that stuff). The only other thing is at times, not always, when you are requesting some juice from the engine (when you need additional power say up a hill) the alternator icon in the panel lights up for a second or two and then goes away. He says he's never noticed it before. I can buy it for 1800 dollars, I looked at other cars for a while and I only can spend this much. So, what do you think?

on a cavy with 107k miles, especially one with problems already, i would save your money and find something better. Otherwise, your 1800 is gonna turn into 2500 or 3000 real fast fixing everything that breaks.
