Ok i posted before and said that my high beam light flashes...and this usually means something i wrong with drl. Well i went through and checked fuses and switches and wires. And now the highbeam light flashes, but only once in a while, and while it flashes my drl arent on...BUT if i turn my head lights on, they work just fine, and when i turn em off the high beam light flashes again and there are no lights on. This only happens sometimes. Like i will start my car in the morning and they will work fine. I go to school for a few hours, get out and start the car, they work, and then they go out. I am stumped here. Any of you have any suggestions? Thanks

If I were you, I wouldn't mess with the electrical equipment.. you need a proffesional for that. But you may consider checking in on the daytime runnng lights if your model has them.. C-YA

:sunglasseNo.. I'm not against Grand AM's. I own one. They are nice cars. But I am saying that you should get a newer one, rather than drive a late model. Grand AM's are pretty cool, but they do run into several problems, especially with the electrical wiring. There is a recall out now just on the blinker setup. If I were to buy a new car, it would most likely be a Toyota. Toyota's last much longer than any other vehicle, and they drive much better now. I'm not dissing on you or your car. But you are the one asking for help on a forum, and then you act like a smart ass when I don't know what drl meant. Maybe you should be alittle nicer to those who are trying to do you a favor. And that about you owning a car better than I will ever have, I'd like to see that one some day. I don't plan on buying a newer car... I plan on fixing up my car I have now. If you checked your fuses and the problem got alittle better, then wouldn't you think it is at all possible that it is in the fuses and wiring. I'm sure you bypassed some fuse, I have 3 fuse boxes in my Grand AM, driver's side.. passenger's side.. and in the engine. And usually when there is a problem with the electrical equipment, more than one fuse will be blown.. and in more than one location. I had a tag neon hooked up and wires were touching, it blew two fuses everytime my lights came on. Anyway, take a pill.. I'm not one to diss on Grand AM's.

yea the car only has a 307....the 307 was only made for i think like 5 years....correct me if im wrong.....and to you i wasnt trying to be a smart ass in my post when i said what drl meant so sorry if you took it that way....and i would have a newer car....but i aint made of money....so the one i got is staying....and i have checked all fuses....and all wires...and thats why i posted on here was to see if someone else knew what the problem was....maybe i did miss something but since iv checked it twice now....i went on here to see what everyone thinks...i dont feel like spending money to go to some grage to have them find nothing.....so sorry you took what i said the wrong way man....and also what kind of ga do you have?

:sunglasseI have a '99 SE model. 3.4 liter V6. I've fixed it up about as much as my current budget will allow me to. In a few months I'll have a lot more money coming in, then I'm gonna get a super charger for it. Maybe a chip. Gotta get some new wheels and tires (low pro) of course. Still looking for a nice body kit and spoiler. Getting the windows tinted, roof scoop, altezza taillights. I had an undercar neon kit for it before, and it made my alternator go out.. plus, half of the neons broke off, usually while driving. Next time I'm getting pro's to put in a custom kit, not that universal crap. Anyway, just about everything I can do to that car.. I plan to do. Right now I just have graphics.. checkers & camilian flames, windshield graphic.. PONTIAC, hood graphic.. arrow symbol, and a few on the back. I customized my certer taillight to wear it looks like an oval line instead of a whole oval. But I have a new one on it's way from www.customgrandam.com (http://www.customgrandam.com) . I've done alittle interior work. I have new headlight lens' coming, door handle covers, mirror graphics, the taillight, and grilles. Most of the stuff I've done to it has been on a low budget, on the graphics alone.. I've spent at least $400. I'm thinking of getting a new paint job, but I'm gonna wait till I get all the exterior stuff.

Thats cool....i finally got some pics of my car here http://community.webshots.com/album/129698791ZewURf like isa di its 100 % stock..i got a few graphics comming too...off that same site....does anyone know if they make the clear tail lights for older se's? or any way of making them clear....i like the way those look....my car needs a whole new paint job...somebody had the wrong color scrath fixer...and you can see them if you look closely...plus i dont really like the color.....and the other car there that was my first drivable car...up till bout feb when it neded up looking like that.....you are spending all your money on the Ga and thats alright but mines only a 4 banger.....not a bad engine but im not gunna mod it much...im gunna concentrate on the chevelle most of all....

oh yea and i like the look of the street glow....and i forget what else they are called...but there the aftermarket gauges...like the white backed ones....i like the way they look but i cant find any for my 96.....do they not make them?
tmjok231
03-31-2004, 03:11 PM
I'm not sure if they make them, sometimes I find more products for an older ga than a new one. Stuff for my car should be here either today or tomorrow, maybe Friday. I can't drive right now cause I had surgery on my ankle.. killing me that I can't drive. 3 months, I have alittle over a month left.. and what sucks is, prom is this Saturday, and I still have to use my crutches. Anyway, I can't wait to start getting paid more money, after about two months.. my car will be pimped out. The first month I'm gonna move outta this house..:-)... can't stand living with my mom and bro anymore. Plus I have stuff to buy for my dj service. But I'm gonna invest into that ga, I'll probably wait till then to send any pics.. I'll take some b4 and afters.

You don't know what a person's skill level is when your reading their posts. I've read you reply like this on other posts. They may know what their doing, but looking for answers to things someone might already have dealt with, Looking for short cuts. I myself, I do all my own work, but the warrenty work. Working vehicle maintainance for 10 years in the Air Force doesn't give me all the answers to every problem that occurs. I'm not trying to be rude or anything. I'm just saying, the forum is to ask questions. So you really shouldn't be telling every one to go to the dealer for everything.:)

Hey grand_am93. Do you have pix of your car somewhere? Do you have a web site or something? My internet server gives me 10 meg of online space. I can make as many web sites up to 10 meg that I want. A lot of poeple have web space by their internet provider, but never use it. As long as I've been online, until I got my GAGT, I never built my web spaces. Now I have pix online for easy access for people to check them out. Although, I still need to borrow a digital camera to take more.

Shark, if you're such and expert.. than why didn't you reply to "help"? If you're an expert at this stuff, and you are not on here helping others, then why are you on here? To pick on people? Besides, it's not like your GA is any better than mine or anyone else's in here. I respect the Air Force and all, but you just don't get paid good enough to be fixing up any car very much.

04-01-2004, 10:57 PM
I didn't say I was any better. Can't you read? I said you don't need to just tell everyone not to work on something and just go to the dealer. I'm not picking on anyone. I said myself that my experience doesn't give me all the answers to all problems that occur. Sorry you couldn't read that part in my other post. I was just pointing out that your reply to not work on it and just take it to the dealer isn't what people are looking for.

I can tell you this, they aren't looking for you either. You're no help man. All you do is go around and criticize everyone's Replys. If you wanted to criticize me, you should have done it in a chatroom, not in a forum. Anyway, I'm tired of arguing with everyone. So shark, you plan on fixing up ur ride?
