Hello everyone. I am a newbie to nissans. I used to be a honda guy but moved onto something different and more powerfull.
If i swap an SR20 into my s13, how would i maintain it? what kind of gasoline is recommended for it? i heard that 97 octane and up is recomended for it. also, how would i be able to pass smog with the monster? Also, how much would the estimated cost of a complete swap be?
i really wanna do this swap but minor problems worry me. I have about 5 g's to spend on it. Thanks guys.

Go CA18DET. Cast Iron block, much stronger engine. I like them better. post your E-Mail and well talk prices. I sell for an importer so we can get you everything for the swap. No big deal at all.

i'm pretty sure that if you're in California and try to pass emissions with an sr20det that you won't...

i'd be interested in where you get the transplant done since i'm in sf and interested in something similar in the future. But just like PureSXyness said, I'm not so sure about passing smog

You would maintain the motor just like you would any other turbo/force induced motor. The RWD version of this motor was never brought over here but others were. So between the parts that have become available now that they're popular to swap, and the parts that cross over from other versions here, you'll be fine.
But it's a turbo, so don't lag on the oil changes, I would even do it every 2500 miles instead of 3K just to be safe.
As far as swappage in Cali, I would say skip it until you can have the car as track only. I know of a lot of guys that roll those dice. And some have spent alot of money only to spend more to put it back the way it was. :disappoin
