This may be a stupid question, but if I haven't put a K&N filter on, would upgrading the pipe do anything for me and if so, why?

Yes, especially with the K&N. smoother and larger intake = better flow. Which leads to better spool up and yadda yadda. So yes. It helps. it isn't completely necessary at first. but a plus. if you don't get the aftermarket intake right away. make sure to hack your dump tube. might as well put the filter on now until you get the pipe.

yea thats what i meant, i am getting the filter but i was wondering if upgrading the tube now would do anything without a filter.

I was thinking that the stock intake pipe might be restrictive through the size and airflow design, or am I wrong?

I dont think replacing the pipe is going to help without upgrading the stock air box. Because that is the most restrictive part, so there is not that much air going through right now that you would need better/bigger piping.
But definatly get rid of that stock air box SOON!

Do them both at once. You will end up paying maybe 50 for the K&N, need a MAS adapter, and 20 for the home depot pipe.

So 70, instead of 100 for the pipe and 120 for the K&N FIPK

On the other hand though there is no reason NOT to do the intake pipe now. ;) Might as well get it out of the way.
