try a junkyard or auto recycler. thats the cheapest way. or you could get a crate engine from gm or aftermarket(nappa, etc). most aftermarket rebuilds die quickly. if you get a junkyard motor replace the rear main seal and maybe oil pump before intallation. this is cheap insurance. most junkyard engines and crate engines come with some kind of warranty.

Ty and I have tried all those ..no 4.3 for my year(with reasonable mileage) was available from any local junk yard, aftermarket crate engine's are 1700 or so and a GM crate engine is 2200 i believe.Someone may have quoted me around 1200 for a rebuilt one ...Im thinkin if i can wait long enough I can find a tranny and long block SOMWHERE.

I have found a junk yard engine for $650 with a 90 day warranty. Seems like the best deal i can find around here. Reman engines are too expensive and have to swap too many parts. Wish me luck ; ) .
All in all $500 for the truck and $650 for an engine + water pump thermostat, fluids, beer, cigarettes, I should have a little over $1500 in this project, and hopefully have a good strong truck for years to come.
Is there anything I'm overlooking in this swap..??

what year Blazer/truck are you putting this in?
'95 differs from 96-97, the fuel systems are totally different.

looks like you got it under control, i assume you have the old engine still. swap over the intake, sensors, wiring harness from the old engine if the years are different. and replace any leaking seals/gaskets before dropping it in

95 4x4 4 door LS Blazer 4.3 Vortec. Since my first post I had found out that 95 differs a bit from 96+ which makes it a little tougher to find but they are around. As far as the swap i shouldn't need to swap anything over, the one that I found comes with everything minus the crank pulley I think, which gives me some spare parts. Im hoping to do some exhaust work as well, has anyone had any luck finding a good set of headers, and a high flow Cat? I found plenty but I want this to be a daily driver with the least amount of modifications (and hopefully not that annoying idiot light on all the time) if possible. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
