Muffler Question

Hey, I'm new to working with exhausts and I'm trying to learn as much as I can. I have a 94 jeep grand cherokee with a 5.2 V8. I'm looking to produce a deeper more bass sound. A friend has suggested FlowTech purple hornies glasspack, or any glasspack for that matter. I'm trying to stay in the 20-40 dollar range, preferably the lower end of that. I just dont want to spend a great deal of cash on something, not like it, and take it out a week later. Can I ask you guys for some opinions. I'm looking for a deep sound, a rumble, or almost a growl. Also, how can i determine the measurements (offsets and whatever else is required for sizing up a new muffler) on the jeep? Is there an easy method or an online index of these things?
Thanks for your help, I greatly appreciate it. ~Tim

I would suggest asking other people. Try going to a cruise night and listening to some vehicles. If you hear something you like, ask the driver what they did to it. Just remember your Jeep has a converter that muffles the sound a little, compared to an older non converter equipped truck.

I would'nt go with a "glasspack" muffler as they are usually snappy and annoyingly loud. I would go with a performace high flow muffler. Even check with a reputable muffler shop, that is there business. They may even have a unit in the shop with the exhaust of your liking. Just remember you have a V8 so listen to any vehicle with a V8 and a catlytic converter and the sound will be very close. In regards to what you need to know to buy your gear, usually just the outer diameter of the pipe, or if it is an original equipmet replacement, just that it has the same mounts as the old one. Happy hunting.
