Rear trunk side crack repaired. IMO doesnt look as bad as before the repaint anymore.

As of what clem suggested, I used mesh to make speakers opposed to putting revel civic speaker decals on the back.

Thank you.

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid109/pb33c02d5614eed0eb35326b7e8009f52/f934dbc5.jpg

Tail light was done by bending thin clear styrene, then painted. Im planning to airbrush the inside of them with XF-56 through a mesh. What im trying to do is to make them look more like lights come from model kits which are somewhat rough in the behind.

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid109/pb51599ffe56a316caa296076d359df11/f934dbba.jpg

These are what Ive got so far. An unpolished body, butchered and extended chassis, lowered + cambered suspension, straight exhaust, interior, unpainted windows(polished away the rough outline at the sides), taillight + housing + head light, spoon lip with 2nd layer of putty, spoon mirrors (have to be cut to make its angle correct), spoon-ish wheels. Almost all parts of the car except head lights were either modified, scratch built or borrowed off other cars ^_^. The car is finish only when I can get all these parts painted ,then put together, and body polished. Im very very far from complete.

Also thinking if i should give the car a rear wing...

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid109/pf9bca002957fdc5aa6a81eba224ef907/f934dbc0.jpg

It would be great if anyone can help me on this:

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid109/pebb2a3032f3c523147d21f532a1744a4/f934dbbc.jpg

This is a rear window. I need to paint the edges black and also detail it with defrosters. The problem is that I dont have any guidelines to paint, and it is hard to make defrosters even close to how fine when it came from the kit.

Can anyone give me ideas on doing those? Thank you.

Thank you RB26.
Spoonman dos: I got this kit from Hong Kong. It is made by fujimi. #04036. They have no sedans for sale.

I wont be able to take any more pics for the next week because my parent is going out of town with the digicam.

Once again, any suggestions on the rear window would be appreciated :) thank you.

More progress! Painted window rubber and light housing.

I polished the body using sandpaper, tamiya compound and turtle wax.

I masked the grill with bare metal foil matte aluminum, only to see how it would look with chrome grill. Please give some input on if I should keep the chrome on the grill or just keep it body color (green)

Also should I paint the light housing black to mimic a jdm look? please input. Thank you.

Slo,
Good to see you fixed that crack!
Nice smooth paint too.
Noticed the tach wired, cool!
I like the chrome grille as it contrasts with the CF hood. I would definitely blackout the headlight trim ala other Civic posted here...if the chrome grille surround is too much go with gunmetal like shorty said, but I wouldn't leave it body color...
and as far as I can tell, the proportions looked right from day one.
Keep it comin'!

'Good to see you fixed that crack!'

I feel sorry that I could not fix the crack afterall.
The crack dissappeared when i sanded it down and applied the green. However it showed up again days later, also as coats of tamiya TS-13 hardens. I had no idea how this could happen...maybe tamiya lacquer reacted with gunze mr. surfacer??? ~.~"

Anyway, It was inconvenient to flatten the crack again as Im running out of time for the contest, and i must finish another project before May. The crack will be covered with sponsor decals near final assembly.

Im thinking i will gunmetal the head light housing, and keep the chrome grill. Looks good you guys think?

tsuchiya, The green is mixed from parts of yellow, blue. clear yellow + blue was added too, but they won't make a difference i don't think...these are acrylic paint (tamiya/gunze)

tamiya TS-13 was on at the end. It darkened the green I used to have.

Car is around 85% complete i think..It is missing front lip and decals.

The left side of the car has bad paint job, especially near the gas door where the crack is. I was desperate hoping to remove that shallow crack by rubbing away paint until its level. No luck. I got a few more spots burned through instead....

Painted tamiya X-18 for the head light housing. I ran out of gun metal paint. Still looks good now.

I also made rear window defrosters by lightly scribing the window using masking tape as a template. Thank you flyonthewall for the advice.

Finally I finish the lip spoiler. It was smoothed, grey primer, X-18 + XF-56 + X-19 for the carbon effect. Same goes for the rear spoiler below it.

By next week it should be safe to do a little polish on them, I will glue them on right after polish. Then the car becomes 100% complete. Cheers!

This model has little mistakes everywhere such as paint rub throughs, broken decals, and i keep seeing squadron putty shrinkage from certain angles. the left spoon decal got badly melted from mr.mark softer. This is my first time screwing up a decal this way and i surely learned my lesson.
Looks like I still got a lot to learn...

Are there matching decals for the right side as on the left?

I put the decals on the left side solely to cover a putty crack after painting the body twice already. The right side however seems smooth and I never thought i needed decals. But would it look better if i put decals on the right side too? What decals should i put on?

I wanted to keep the car as clean as possible with few spoon sports decals...too bad the crack happened and im not good enough to fix...

nice, the color is odd, grass green........but it looks nice

I chose green because I havent built green cars for a long time...

I was trying to match the stock dark green found on usual civic sedans of that vintage on the streets. What I did to match was copy a pic of a civic of that green onto my comp desktop, mix my color on old cds, let dry, then put the paint right next to my monitor. It looked fine comparing it that way.
