Okay, I am on my second Metro. Bought the first one in 2000 and drove it for 3 years. Got way more than my moneys worth out of it before I sold it for about 1/2 of what I originally paid for it.

Now that gas prices are on the rise again, I bought another Metro. I am now the owner of a 1994 Polynesian Green Metro with an automatic transmission. My first Metro had a 5 speed and consistently got 47+ MPG. My current metro only gets about 35 MPG. Of note is that the check engine light stays on and that the odometer is showing 155,000+ miles. When I reset the check engine light it will remain off then come back on after about 200 miles.

Are there any quick fixes to improve MPG's.... Supposedly the motor and transmission were rebuilt 10k ago. I would tend to believe this as the car has alot of pep considering it is a 3 cylinder with auto transmission.

spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, clean out the throttle body with some brake cleaner. *TUNE UP!*

You don't use brake cleaner in the throttle body. You use throttle body cleaner.

35 MPG isn't bad for an auto But tune wouldn't hurt (should have been done with the rebuild though). Check parts & replace as needed.
