Check engine light

The check engine light has started to come on my 92 Grand Prix SE. This only happens while the car is standing still. It goes away rather quickly. Nothing else seems to be wrong with the car as it runs rather well. Before I take it in and spend obscene amounts of money is there anything I should check first like a loose wire or vacuum hose?

Take it to your nearest Auto Zone. They will check your codes for free and tell you what they are. You should have a good starting point after that. Good luck.
