The only time I expeirenced razor burn was when I tried to get the back of my neck with a razor instead of a buzzer. Stupid mistake, stupid outcome.

Let it grow for about twice as long - your razor needs something solid to cut off - not skin. Then have a shave AFTER your shower - the hot water softens your beard and skin. :)

I don't use shaving cream or gel or what have you. I just use cold water after a shower.
Hot water does soften your hairs, but it also makes it much easier to cut your skin, using cold water prevents this.
I never get razor burn.

Shave after a shower, maybe try a razor with less blades (if you can find one) after you shave, rinse your face with warm water, then use aftershave GEL, not the liquid type, I find the gel moisturizes more than the liquid type, that or use some good ol alovera hand/dry skin cream

Nivea makes an awesome aftershave cream. It helps me out a lot, plus the grrrls like the way it smells.

Yes, shave after a shower. I don't but I start off with an electric and then hit it up with a razor. Also never shave in up on your face, shave down. And take your time and do it slow. It definately cuts down on irritation. And as Oz said let it grow a little bit longer. I usually only shave every 2 to three days. It does a number of things for me, it feels closer, my face doesn't break out, and the irritation is greatly reduced.

Don't worry about growing a beard or goatee. Shavings a pain in the ass. I had a goat for like 4 years straight. Shavings is more hastle than its worth to me.

The only time I get razor burn is underneath my chin, using a shitty single blade razor. Otherwise I don't really have a problem with razor burn.

This is true, I was watching some modeling makeover (go fucking figure) show, and this dermatologist says something that if you have naturally curly hair, shave down to up, and if you have straight hair, shave up to down. It has something to do with the way the hair folicle grows. That's what I heard, for whats it's worth.
