1/4 = 15.947
MPH = 67.36

Best Heat
R/T = .809
60' = 2.389
1/8 = 9.769
MPH = 74.70
1/4 = 15.013
MPH = 92.94

As you can tell my first time on the strip (ever driving) I didnt know what I was doing. Missed the tree by looking down the track and then lifted 3/4 the way by not paying attention for some god known reason. It was a little chilly out ... probably 55 degrees. The track wasnt all that sticky. Imagine I can get the 14.8 I'm looking for right now if the weather comes around in the next two weeks. However , as it stands those are my times.

My question for now is being as I'm new to driving the strip what should I try to do in order to better my ET's. I know nothing is a substitue for practice. I am running at IRP.

side note : full tank of gas and a spare tire.

R/T big hint here..... Second yellow GO!!!!!!!!! that will get you .5-.6 R/T.

Ya 60's you should be able to get down to 2.1-2.2 with practice.

Ya traps say you should be able to crak 14's with practice...

Looks pretty good for ya first time!

Hope to get more practice as the summer goes. Have to wait another week though ( tuesday) to race again.

as for the bit mess in my "first heat" the numbers on the right were all four heats. times/mph. not sure why it came out like that.

technical question for my quarter. i've noticed my car trys to get sideways and can feel the body twist from 1-2. nothing serious but enough that i most def feel it going down the track. normal for a gt? part of the reason for the subframes i'm wanting to get.

SWEET NIGHT OF RACING!!

Actually, depending on the driver, leaving on the second yellow might cause a "red light". I have always had good luck timing for the third yellow light when launching.

Also your R/T has nothing to do with your 1/4 mile time, it's mainly for bracket racing. You can sit at the green light for 5 minutes, and still record a 14/15 sec 1/4 mile run.

Now your 60ft's is what's killing you!!!! General rule of thumb that, for every tenth you cut your 60ft by, you will cut your 1/4 mile time by 2 tenths. I have found this to be very true in my experiences. So your best run was say 15.0 with a 2.3 60ft. Improve your launching and driving style to muster up a 2.1 60 ft, and you should be somewhere around 14.6 or so.

True everyone's style of launching is different and also how well you car hooks and how much power you car has will decide it. But stock Mustangs when getting .8-1 R/T is usually idictive of the persone is waiting or is slow with the pedal action so leaving on the second yellow will put him right in the money zone. Besides i usually stage "deep" in the hole.

R/T has nothing to do with your 1/4 mile is not always true. Your street nights and things like that it is true but when you enter some type of brackets class like an NMRA at FFW. They run a pro-tree light where R/T is part of your 1/4 mile time.

Yeah, I forgot about the pro tree.

But how many of US are ever going to be racing like that? Especially someone who's just starting off.

the car i am currently working on will not be meant for NHRA. just something to have fun in when i want to get out and have some power under the hood.

as far as some of us doing something like that.... the closest i come is the quarter in the low 6's to high/mid 5's. pit crew for an Top Alcohol Funny Car.

i'd hope to eventually get into a stock/superstock class for NHRA but that wont be for a good amount of time.

You would all be surprised how easy it is to end up infront of a pro-tree. There are many bracket or class divisions at your local track where it cost a small entry fee and you'll be starring at a pro-tree.

actually im used to seeing the pro tree. not sure how much a difference the two are considering ive only been in the drivers seat on the one.

if it doesnt rain tomorrow i should get to work with the tree again. how am i to get the tires to hook better? a burn out really wouldnt help because theyre not slicks. would only wear tread off i think. heres to hoping for decent weather.

just because they're not slicks don't mean it won't help. I have Sumitomo HTR-Z II's I just do a quick burnout of dumping the clutch and roasting them till they begin to grab... that seems to work best for me... I swear it helps too

I can give you my times from this weekend too but I don't want to go out to my car to get the slips right yet so I'll post them up later on
