So, how much did he spend to get a Sunfire that's as fast as an out of the box Firebird Trans Am?

About 10-15k

I hope you mean including the car, because for that price, there's a lot of other cars that could've been built to be faster, and better-looking...including the price of the car. And yes, I'm talking about an N/A, compact, build.

yes it included the car, and the nitrous set up(but not used). Roll cage, helmet, various internal work. He said he is afraid of the car when he uses nitrous (150shot). His cars completely gutted and using slicks.

And he's ONLY running high 13's at 99?? With a 2.4-liter motor? Even the Honda guys...no wait...ESPECIALLY the Honda guys will be laughing at that.

I wouldn't be so proud, if I were you, as I have beaten a 1994 M3 with my Berreta GTZ with a 2.3-liter QUAD4 HO, and I was also N/A. This was a while ago, when that M3 I ran was brand-new. I never ran it at a sanctioned track, but I am sure I was very close to 13's, and I wasn't even close to spending as much as your buddy did with his car.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :iceslolan :rofl: :lol: :cwm27: :lol2: :evillol:

lol sorry had to do it, i geuss its cool but...you could run those times with a 1.5L single cam honda motor

this is why no one is affraid or questions the performance of a cavalier or sunfire with a muffler next to them...

ehh better but still way behind i think

just all the money spent to go low 13's maybe high 12's if his problems are fixed, its not worth it, unique but not worth it

Then stop goofing around with FF sedans and go buy a Camaro. :p

j/k

But, in all seriousness. Considering that car maxed out without major surgery. If he wants to go faster without forced induction, the engine is going to have to come out and be turned into a full on race piece (translation, hand grenade) and the chassis is going to have to be redone.

If he'd been smart about it and actually chosen a performance car to drag race with, he could've had a back-half monstrosity like this classic pro streeter.

Hey, it’s just an eight-second ’67 Camaro—no big deal, right? Well, it is a big deal, because back-halved ’67s weren’t supposed to run 8.15 seconds at 173 miles per hour, but Scotts car did back in 1993. Sporting a Gianino 543, a four-speed Lenco and a Dana 60, the 3445-pound sprinter wowed plenty of fans before Scott sold it and the car was burned to the ground (as was the garage the car was in). Scott bought the shell back and plans to rebuild the car someday. —“If Pigs Could Fly,” Mar. ’93

Quote taken from Hot Rod Magazine. And, in all fairness, this isn't Danny Scott's fastest car. His full tube chassis Pro Street 1966 Chevelle, which has run bests of (as I recall) 6.19's on nitrous, is much quicker.

03-28-2004, 03:45 PM
what's FF? lol
FF = Front-engine, Front-wheel-drive
FR = Front-engine, Rear-wheel-drive
MR = Mid-engine, Rear-wheel-drive
AWD = Full-time, All Wheel Drive
4WD = Part-time, All Wheel Drive

If you got a small displacement FF then the smart thing to do would be go FI. I mean with all the cash he spent he could have bought a nice twin turbo set up or s/c and be running 10s. However I do agree with Layla's Keeper in that the really smart thing would have been to buy a more drag able car.

I have a 2004 Cavalier and for that much money I agree he could be running way faster but I mean for a domestic compact a 13 aint bad at all. Hell i only run a mid 15 so I dont have much braggin room. Props to you bro.
