Problems to get to TDC (99 Accord)

Hi,

Here is the situation, I opened up the valve cover for valve adjustment, and to get to TDC piston 1, I am aligning the white mark on the crank pulley with the pointer. At the same time, the cam sprocket's up mark should be at 12 o clock right? Well, it is slightly off the mark maybe by a couple of degrees. So should I turn the crank a little more until I feel the piston slip past the TDC or just take the exact mark on the crank to be TDC?

Also, I have a mark on the pulley to set the position for TDC on piston 1, but how do I check that I have rotated exactly 180 degrees for piston 3? There is only 1 up marking on the cam sprocket and there are no aligning marks to go by for the cam sprocket. So basically I am stuck with adjusting just the first piston and the fourth (rotating 360 degrees I can align with the white mark again)

So what do I do?

I have a 99 honda accord. The haynes manual is not very helpful, they talk about the 6 cyl valve adjustment!

straight up TDC is pistons one, 90 degrees west is piston four, 180 is piston 3 and east is piston 4. You can check which TDC you are at by tapping the rockers, If they are loose, then that is the piston you are on. Another not the best way but it works, is to take you spark plugs out, and you can use a flashlight to look inside, or a thin wooden dowel to feel with, don't use metal, you could nick the piston.
