stainless is the one that changes colors. I beleive it turns a blueish color.
unless you want to replace your headers every few years, get ceramic coated. It is well worth the extra cost.

Ceramic is far better, if you have the cash go with them. Regular stainless headers will turn blue, but it's really not a big deal.

well as far as replacing them i don't mean very often. I guess it really depends on who makes them and their quality. The real deal is that they have a greater chance of warping due to heat. So many after a few years they might get warped, but then again, they might not based on their quality and how much heat your engine is puting out.
So i mean many people are happy with stainless and they work perfectly, but if you do have the money ceramic coated arn't bad. I have my eye on some BBK ceramic coated. They are pretty cheap and do a good enough job. I can't justify spending like 3 times as muhc to get JBA ceramic coated headers.

oh yeah, if you go with stainless steel, you can get this like tape type stuff that you can wrap around it that insulates them, so a lot of the heat they let off doen't get to your engine compartment, it also helps them to not get warped and stuff
Here is a site that makes this stuff, check them out:

Stainless turns brownish purple... I have them.
Ceramic does not and it keeps engine temps down.
If you want to be cheap go pick up a can of silver or any other color and make sure it is 2000 F high heat paint and paint the stainless.
It wont be as perfect as ceramic, but it gets the job done. :)

DONT' TAPE YOUR HEADERS i've seen headers come completely apart, rusted through, that were completely taped up with that special tape they sell. yes it keeps the heat in the headers where it belongs, but it does nothing to protect the metal that a good coating will do. also, if you call up jet-hot, they usually have headers of a variety of brands for a long list of applications, so you don't have to screw around with shipping costs and such.
