Alright... so i have some carbon build up on my throttle body... To clean it with the proper chemicals will cost 75$ ... so i am thinkin about just puting that toward a new throttle body. So if anyone knows who makes a good throttle body and where to get it at a good price please let me know. Thanks!

I have a 2000 5.3 K-1500. I don't know what kind of problem you are having but I had a problem with my throttle sticking. I took off the intake tube and sprayed carb cleaner into the bore of the throttle body as I was moving the butterfly open and closed. I also saturated a lint free rag with the cleaner and cleaned inside as best I could. No more sticking throttle. I think a better upgrade would be to replace your filter box with a K&N F.I.P.K. or something like it. Maybe remove the screen in the MAF also.

I already have that, headers, and exhaust... so that is the reason for me being interested in a performance throttle body... thanks for your help!!

Thanks...I didn't know...maybe you can help me...I want to install headers and an exhaust when I can afford them. What kind did you go with and can you tell a difference in performance?

I went with the gibsons but all of them are good... i just got a good deal on them. The difference is night and day. It is increadible how much low end torque i have now. From 0-30 it flys. I got mine at truckperformance.com with free shipping and 15% off of everything. But definitely look around because truckperformances prices have gone way up over the past year... i don't know if they are really that cheap anymore.

Thank you very much..I'll look into the Gibsons. I leave near Jegs so I'll check to see if they have them first.

Just to let everyone know, I went out to the local automotive store and got some 3M intake and throttle cleaner, and after cleaning out the throttle, it works like new. The job took about 45 minutes and i just used a steel brush, the cleaner and a couple rags.

Over the weekend, my brother -n -law ( a mechanic) cleaned my throttle with the 3M cleaner and it works like brand new!!! I agree with jdugan!!! It is worth every cent and every minute of your time!!

I know i asked on the first thread, but i am going to ask again... I did fix my problem with my throttle, but I am still wondering if anyone has put in an aftermarket throttle and if it does a lot. I am also considering going the hypertech route ~ getting the programmer instead. So, which one adds more performance for the price??? Also, will my gas mileage decline with hypertech????. Any comments or help would be appreciated.
