Max wont start?

What's up guys. New to the forum and I have a really good question. I have a 97 maxima with 85,000 miles and the car won't start. I took it to the shop and they said it was the starter. It has all the symptoms of a starter problem so I changed it out. Well that didn't fix the problem. When I start the car it just clicks. That's it. I've tried switching out the starter relay and that didn't fix it. I read in the manual that in the summer if you try depressing the accelerator that may fix it. Well I've done that a couple times and it's worked but that seems like a cheap fix. Any ideas? It seems to not start when it gets hot. When it's cold in the morning it will start right up, but after it warms up it won't start. Anyone had this problem?

not really, I have the same car and I have 93000 miles on it. My starter had to be fixed also but mine was fine right after the whole change. It didn't start up right after installation. I had to pump the gas until it started up. Well, if you can get your car to start, shut if off and then start it again and do that like three times cause that's what I did.

That clicking noise is the starter seliniod (sp?). I bet your battery is hosed now. Basically if you keep trying to crank a car with a bad stater it will drain every last drop out of the battery. The most common stater failure goes kinda like this......

Short or something in stater...required starting amps were 450 are now at like 750.

You can completely drain a battery in just a few tries of cranking the engine. I just had my stater done last week and my battery went south this week. Either take your car back to a shop and have them test the battery or just try to jump it when it wont start. If you can jump it then replace the old battery. Hope this helps!

FYI dont use anything but the factory starter. I used a Bosch (industry leader my a$$) and it died in 1year 7 days. The factory lasted for 150k miles.

I have a 95 and have the same problem. I was told it was the starter. It's so weird. It just will not start when it is hot outside.
