Turbocharged Engines...

I made some researches to find out which engine was the best to turbocharged... Well, some peeps say it's the B18C (GSR), some others say it's the B18B (LS) and finally the others say it's the B20 (CRV)... In the end, I have absolutly no clue what the final verdict is so...

I wanna know which is the best to turbocharged and why it is???

some say not to turbo a VTEC engine. Others say the b20 has a weak block or sleeves. Most say go with the b18b. Its non vtec, strong engine, long gears for long accelerations.

Hands down, the GSR. Solid motor, cams work well with boost, strong block, great tranny, good flowing head, not to high compression = tuner friendly.

i second that notion.

Vtec head and cams are better for turbo because the head flows much better and you don't need to have a shit fit over some vtec cams with fairly mild duration when they're engaging at 5500 rpm's where you don't have to worry about slow spool due to overlap (which is basically nonexistant with stock cams)

GSR trans is better, shorter gears means faster acceleration, I don't know why the hell people still try and stay the LS trans is better for speed? If longer gears meant faster turbos cars, shouldn't anyone and everyone with a RWD car be running a powerglide and 2.40 gears out back? I have an even better one, how about we all just drive around in 5th gear everywhere, because longer gear means long accelerations

well it all depends on what you're looking for.. if you're looking for maximum hp gains, go with the LS block, its lower compression means you can boost up to 10 psi on stock internals, wich in turn gives you more hp than the GSR block boosted at around 7 psi with a slightly higher compression... there's massive arguements everywhere on this site.. it's best not to stir the sleeping beast..

Ahhhh...spoken like a man that's never boosted a motor.

if you're so damn smart then what do you suggest?

Read the third post in this thread, it helps to read whole threads before throwing your two cents in.

that's not exactly specific.. sure it's a great motor, that's why i'm getting it... i'm just saying the ls block is better for boosting on stock internals.. for larger hp gains that is

No, it isn't, The GSR as I already said, flows infinitely better, and that is going to promote more power from a turbo. Second it cams are not agressive enough to have a lot of overlap tuned in or out. And the Compression isn't that high, so it is tuner friendly. Show where a LS block is a better block? You can't. Tell you what, you go buy an LS and boost it, I'll pick up my friends boosted GSR, and we'll see who comes out on top.

Instead of post a thread about turbos, why don't you go to a track and see who's running what. Thanks, good try, stop wasting you time, and drive through :)

Have a nice day.

no tracks within 300 k of here.. would if i could, but i'm unable to.. i'm just going on what i have reasearched

you don't have to be such a jackass about it

A GSR motor running 7 psi will make a LOT more power than an LS running 10 psi, assuming they're both running the same turbo, same EMS, similar timing, etc. Not only does the GSR have more rpm's to spin, which allows it to make more power at a given torque level than an LS, but since the GSR head flows so much better than the LS you are making more torque and power down low anyways. I have also seen nothing to suggest that the LS block is stronger than teh GSR block either. If anything the GSR block is stronger, it's built to be more of a high performance motor from the factory, so it only makes sense to have higher quality parts in there, and a better balanced motor.
