I am looking at putting a cold air intake on my 91 eclipse 1.8L non-turbo, my questions are as follows: Do i need to modify the aftermarket intake to hold the mass air sensor found inside of the filter housing, or can i just get rid of this part completely? if I do need this part, then can anyone tell me how to modify the aftermarket intake, so that it will include the mass air in it.

cut it off with a welding torch in your garauge. and weld it onto your Throdle boddy

this is a ridiculously huge sensor screwed to the inside of the air box, and would not be able to be relocated, either the aftermarket intake must be modified, or the sensor removed all together, i just need to know how to do these things if they'll even work...

well, basically what you do is either, modify the intake to take the sensor (ie the whole lid) somewhere where it can reach (since it has a small cord) or settle for a short ram intake, and use the lid and a K&N filter made for the 1.8L eclipse/talon/laser (if you order direct from K&N you can buy a kit with filter, and specail round ring to help clamp in the filter)

in any case if you get the cold air intake let me know how it works, i've been told by a preformance shop that the engine isnt designed to take in much air, nor put out much horsepower, so you really can't get too much of a gain out of it
