acually no, i try to stay away from Sterio's, add to much weight, lol but in leaf form, i guess it is soppsed to keep heat down, remember, this is a $1.3 million car, ppl who have this car can afford it

They used an insulating mat'l around the engine in the F1 to keep the heat away from the starter, alternator, pumps, etc. The insulation is plated with gold to help because the gold reflects the heat. Plus when the engine is turned off, the gold cools quicker.

Just to add my two cents. Silver is the best conductor of eletricity right next to copper. In WWII they used sliver for the eletrical connections in the A-bomb for two reasons. 1. They wanted to be 100% sure it was going to work. 2. All the copper was going to making ammo for AA, guns and what not. (Gotta love the discovery channel!! :icon16: ) Gold is accually just a medium conductor. It is neither an excelent or bad conductor. The reason it is used alot is because gold is the most restiant to corrosion. (Gotta love machine eletronics class.)
