hey i just ordered a K&N typhoon intake for my 91 accord ex. i was just wonderin if anyone else had one in here or knows someone that does and if they get any kinda extra kick outta the engine. also, i ordered it from jcwsportcompact and picked 2-day air, however im just hoping it gets here by friday so i can have it on for a road trip. one more thing. about taking off my existing intake, the screws are rusted as hell and i tried some liquid wrench crap on there but im afraid i might strip them. is there a somewhat safe way i just rip the old one out without risking damage anything else? im pretty sure i only really need to unscrew the one used on the clamp to the back of the engine. some feed back would be greatly appreciated.

ok. i cancelled that order. dont order from them cause they take forever to clear payment status to even start to ship it to you so i ordered from www.nopi.com and got the same thing for $20 less. one more thing. my friend told me that a short shift kit will not only shorten your throw (which i already know) but he said itll help to give more power cause it changes his gear ratios? is he smoking crack or is this for real?

Changing how you change the gears shouldn't change your gear ratio. THats something completely different. Only thing it'll do is help you speed up faster by shifting faster.

thats what i had originally though but some other in a different thread said something about a guy he knew who had a short shifter in his car that ate up his gearbox somehow and i thought this is what he might have been talkin about.

First off, the typhoon is a Cold Air intake, so it will get a 3-5hp at the most. On a 4 cylinder engine, basic power upgrades aren't going to give you huge gains. The intake will give your engine more air to breathe, so it will free up a bit more power, help your gas mileage a bit, and give your engine a more aggressive sound. It is a good upgrade to start with, just don't overestimate it. I personally would even go as far to say that almost any cold air intake will do the same, you might want to compare prices of cheaper ones on ebay, just to save some money.
As far as just ripping out your old intake, your new intake will just hook up directly to the throttle body, so all the old stuff will be useless and can be destroyed, just be careful that you don't damage anything else.
As far as your friend's short shifter, no it definantly does not change your gear ratios.

[QUOTE=dansaccord]the intake will give you a little more hp, it helps more if you have exhaust for your car, mine has increased quite a bit. QUOTE]
