I need a new MAS, and a new bypass valve system, bubble looking thing behind the MAS that it plugs into. Either stock replacements, or aftermarket parts...only cant find any of them, any suggestions? Know where I can find them? Performance or stock MAS, and bypass valve tube behind the MAS. Thanks

If you have to replace the MAS already, I would go straight to aftermarket upgrades. You can put on the Z06 MAF with a MAF translator, the kit is like 300 bucks or so, but you get a huge intake filter, a 3.75" MAF, and the translator allows you to tune a bit and input which injectors you are running. It is a decent upgrade which I plan on doing in the near future. It's called the LS6 MAFT, you can do a search on 3si.org for the cheapest place to buy it, you may even be able to get a used one there. Otherwise, I found the whole kit on ikonone's sponsor's website
http://www.driven-performance.com/display/206
it includes the ls6 MAF, MAFT, and 9inch K&N filter for $380.

If you just decide to stay with the stock MAS, www.3sxperformance.com has them, if I remember correctly...

Does the kit go straight into the current housing and bypase valve? Is the kit a straight install or does it have to be altered to fit into the bypass bubble valve right behind the stock MAS? I need this because of a damn battery short out that caused a engine fire that damaged my stock plastic Y-pipe, my MAS, and some vacuum lines, the vacuum lines and hoses are no big deal, but i desperately need a new Y-pipe and MAS system, the L06 is looking quite nice right now, I just need to know if it while work with the existing parts, and BTW....The bypase valve is fucked too, damn fire, if anyone knows a way or aftermarket part to rid me of that, or a place that has stock replacements, cause i couldnt find them on 3SX....thanks again, appreciate it

The LS6 MAFT is a direct replacement for the stock MAS, no alteration is needed. The y-pipe I would upgrade as well if you are already buying one. Almost every website out there has the aluminim ones. I would get one, as the stock y-pipe has a tendency to blow off if you boost past 14.5psi. As far as the bypass valve...do you mean the blow off valve, that prevents surges on the turbos when shifting? Because there are plenty of aftermarket BOVs available. If that is what you have in mind, I would upgrade to a closed-loop BOV simply because this recirculates the air back into the intake, rather then releasing it into the atmosphere and causing your car to run rich momentarily. Plenty are available at 3sxperformance.com

the LS6 MAFT is a great upgrade as i have one and can vow for that. If you want on OEM replacement, just find a used one in good working order. You can get one from either a TT or an N/A as they are interchangeable. Proof they are interchangeable, i gave my friend with a VR-4 my old airfilter, and it was still attached to the maft, he looked at the part numbers on top of his and mine, and the part numbers were exactly the same, then he just decided to just use my old N/A one cause it had less miles on it and it works beautifully.

Yea, I already have plans on replacing that stock peice of shit Y-pipe, that fucker got a hole burned through it as well...Im gonna get a nice aluminum one, hell yea. But yea the BOV, i call it a bypass because i just really thought a true blow off vented the gas off completely, and the stock one recirculates it back into the intake. But yea, the stock one on the VR4, it is burned up, and barely holds air, leaks a lil bit, i need a new one, but I really would like to just put a 3SX bov right on my new Y-pipe, but what do I do with the hole where the old blowoff was where the mass connects up...Do i just plug it, or is there a pipe i can purchase for that, or do i just get a new OEM blow off, plug it up, and put the new BOV on the Y-pipe....see what i mean...the 3/S section on DN performence under intake has a little diagram that shows you exactly what im talking about, the part is #7 on the diagram. heres the link

Sweet thanks, if all else fails and i cant scrape up the 300 hundred bucks for the L06 MAFT, ill get a stocker, thanks. What kinda of gains did you get with the MAFT? and i can see your a lot more modded than my VR4 is right now, just got that bad boy, lol. so i would expect your gains to be a lil higher especially if you have larger injectors. And btw how was that engine swap for your N/A? ive heard that was a bitch. I had hell just doing my own clutch, took me and a friend a good lil while manuver the tranny in and out, we finally got it done when i borrowed a real tranny jack, not floor jacks..lol, well by the way, how many different settings the MAFT have for injector sizes? and what are the size of your injectors if you dont mind? im curious about this upgrade, i dont wanna go so big i fuck with passing my emissions in houston...im think 660cc at the biggest, but probably gonna do 550cc....any suggestions?
Thanks

Ummmm man, i just bought one, got it home, and it is not a direct replacement, thanks....I need a and I quote from the instruction maunal of the L06 MAFT...."Some MAFs will require an adapter or a different pipe to the turbo." nice of them to tell me that after I spent $400 dollars on this piece of shit that I cant even use....any suggestions?

Sorry first off I am confused, you mean that you need to replace the #7 part on the prior diagram. Because I think that's a stock part, that would need to be replaced. As far as the ls6 MAft, I have been told that its a direct bolt on, I havn't done it yet...its in the future...when I have money.
What exact adapter do you need? what is not connecting to what?
This is a site I found with some pics...can you use this to tell us?

That Site uses a Y-pipe mount and has the MAS mounted In a very odd location, the MAFT kit has the instruction saying to simply place the new MAS where the old one was, in the old Mounting location. I already have bought a brand new single piece aluminum Y-pipe, and i cannot afford to do a Y-pipe mount, yet alone by a new Y-pipe. The new MAS needs to go exactly where your stock VR4 MAS is, it needs to fit in that same location according to the instructions. It needs to fit into that Oval shapped opening in the blow off valve connecter piping between the two turbo intake pipes. The problem being, that the New MAS is not an Oval Shape like the stock one, It is much larger, and a Circle, it does not fit. I need an adapter that fits onto the circular new MAS, and runs into a Oval shape to fit into the stock location, something that was not made apparent at the site where I bought it from, and im really pissed that the fact is one of these adapters is around $80 bucks, im pissed

Nah i understand, if I dropped 400 bucks I would want my car working already too. I understand what you mean now. I was just confused. Sorry, alcohol affects thinking...go figure. Anyway, 2 questions..First off, how did you fix it? And secondly, is there a pic of this $80 adapter online, just so I can check it out. Thanks, and glad you got it working.

There is no adapter needed for that kit. If you want to pay $80 go for it. Thousands of us have "ghetto fit it" and found it works perfectly.

sorry, there was no offense intended in my statement of "ghetto fitting it" lol, I was just thinking its funny how you simply cram the big ass Circular L06 MAF into the oval shaped stock T-joint, which gets stretched out to fit. No harm meant by it. BTW.....Im assuming you have this product, where did you install your TACH wire too....where in the engine bay is the TACH wire, I need to put the long white wire on the translator to a TACH hook up in the engine bay, and i was wondering if you or anyone out there for that matter could help me out with the location of this wire, maybe a picture even? Cause I do not want to run a wire all the way to the ECU just so i can get a good read on my MAFT kit. Thanks, I appreciate it.

Can anyone give me an explanation of the differences between MAF mode and RPM mode on the L06 Translator...who prefers what, and which is better...any tuning suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it.

Um, I know that there are TONS of threads regarding tuning it on www.3si.org's forum, under AWD mods section.

i'm not a real pro on the LS6 MAFT since i have an S-AFC, but basically, if you are using stock injectors, i believe you dont even need to hook up the rpm wire, just get a base setting so you dont run as rich, i think most people just use -5% on their VR-4s
as for a bypass valve, i would go with a 1st gen DSM, their not loud, but they hold boost well, 18 psi stock and 24 psi crushed
