I have a 03 tacoma dbl cab that i recently purchased, used from a dealer. It has 12000 miles on it and looks new. I discovered a vibration. It only noticeable when starting from a dead stop and accellerating slow to moderate.
A toyota dealer replaced the drive shaft under warranty thinking that was the problem. Im not convinced that the vibration is completely gone. Does anyone have any idea what else could vibrate like that. I believe something else has a problem which caused the drive shaft to go bad.
Thanks.

Hey I had the same problem on my 98 taco. I brought it in to the dealer under warranty, they did the full inspection and concluded that the vibration was "normal driveline wrap up" and not to worry. My buddy, a detroit engine designer suggested draining and refilling the rear diff with mobil 1 synthetic gear oil. I did it and the problem all but dissapeared. I guess its an issue with the limited slip system. I've also heard of mechanics that own tacomas loosening up the bolts that hold the driveline in and allowing it to relax and then tightening everything up again, I guess it also worked. Changing the fluid may also void the warranty if the problem gets to the point of major repair, so be warned.
good luck hope this helps

Thanks for the response. I will mention this the next time I take it in for service.
