S2000 Kill...

Well guys, heres the story...
Saw an S2000 today that was going to turn to a main road which is long and straight. He floors it on the yield sign and I follow pursuit. I get next to him and this dumb guy gets in the middle lane. I guess he wanted to make it a 3way race. :disappoin
Well me and the S2000 both floor it and the guy in the middle is quickly left behind. Going over 100 I had a 2-3 cars on the S2000 and then let off. I was going to get in the middle lane cause there was a van infront of me and the ricer in the middle lane just flies past us. I wait for him to pass me so I can turn right and the light infront of us turns red. I was thinking to myself "This guy that just flew by better move or Im gonna get pissed." Needless to say the guy knew his place in the food chain and let me had the free lane so I can line up with the S2000 in a good ol' fashin drag race. :sunglasse
Light turned green on us immediately and were off again. First gear comes and Im pulling on him. Tires give out a bark on the 1-2 shift and im a full car ahead. At around 60+ I had 2 cars on him and still was pulling. Shut off at around 80 with a little over 2 cars on him. I turn to my left lane and I give a nod to the S2000 signifying a good run and he turns right onto another road. Now the guy that was runnin with us stops next to me and tells me "You fucked his ass up... damn i was tryin to keep up with both of ya" or something to that effect. I just smiled and say "Yeah, thanks man"
So there ya have it guys... Hope ya enjoy my kill story. :smokin:
im 3-0 now with S2000s :icon16:

Good kill. What type of ride are you sporting, and what mods do you have done to it? I have yet to see an S2000 that impressed me (possibly cause I am around some relatively high elevation tracks).

I got a Mustang GT. Mods are drag springs and weight reduction. I have LTs with X-pipe awaiting install soon. :)

Good kill.
Are you in some high-elevation area or something, or do the S2000-drivers in your area just not know how to drive?
Here's an example: http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=175017&highlight=2000+mustang
Both modded with similar bolt-ons.
And before we get into it again, I am not doubting your race. I just don't see where you're pulling *two* cars on even a stock S2000, especially with your auto.
How old were the drivers? 17?

Well, from a stop light Ive never had a problem with any S2000. Most of it cause of the torque Im putting down which comes into play during the low end. Also the race from the roll was at 40-50mph. If that made any difference. Im sure if we would have gone from around 70 and above the race may have been a different outcome. :dunno:

Oh and if it makes you feel any better Carrrnuttt... the S2000 looked like he was gaining some cars during the race from the roll at 100 but by then I had shut off. ;)
Seriously I cant tell how many cars it is just by looking at my rear view across the other lane:dunno:
And no hes not 17. Ive actually seen the S2000 plenty of times and Ill be talking with him tomorrow since we go to the same place. Happened to park next to him today and both left at the same time.

You've gotta rev the piss out of an S2000 to get any decent numbers out of them. Personally I don't see them as an ideal track or drag car. They lack any low end grunt (maybe the new 2.2 liter motor accessed that issue). A guy at LACR was driving one, and it certainly sounded like he was redlighting the crap out of it down the strip. He only posted a 15 sec. 1/4 mile. Mind you that track is at 2700 ft. elevation.

you know, i wonder how high the elavation is at the track up here cause i've witnessed 2 stock supra's run 13.8 consistantly

Yeah, S2000's are weak as hell, and quite frankly nothing until VTEC kicks in, then they get pretty fast.

i was never impressed with the s2000 i mean it has 240hp 162 pounds of torque and weighs around 2800 pounds... when my friend got one i lined up against him in my dads firebird (knowing my stealth would sadly lose lol) and i won with fairly much ease. however i always have liked the looks on the s2000 though which is more than i can say for any other honda.

Why don't you e-mail that guy...or any of the guys in there to either a) quit bullshitting or (my preference) b) teach the S2000 guys in your town how to drive their cars.

Only if I can convince them to line up at a track. I can't afford to have my car taken away and sold (California law).

i would love to see the vid. your car and the S2000 sould be a drivers race to my knowledge. if the stats i have seen have been less than half a second difference in the quarter, it should always be close.
then again, i have never raced, and never plan to.

sry if im wrong here, but dont mustang gt's come with a v6? if so then im calling BS on this story. ive known ppl in civics to take those mustangs down. and frankly an s2000 with a halfway decent driver should pull low 14's, with a good driver high 13's. and especially from a roll he woulda rocked you. plus seeing as a mustang cobra runs mid 13's, and seeing as you dont have a cobra....

 Sure buddy, they come with a V6. NOT. They come with a V8 with 225 horsepower/300 ft. lbs. of torque.
I found this article interesting. They tested a S2000 to only a 6.3 sec. 0-60 time. Mind you the car didn't have enough break in miles. http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=15&article_id=1938&page_number=1

they come with 225hp depending on which year. for 225 you would need a 5.0 musting that is like from 84-93 or something like that. if you get a new one like a 2003 it will have 260hp and if you have a good driver should go 0-60 in about 5.5-5.7 seconds.

Um, your Mustang Cobra 1/4 mile times are about as accurate as your statement that Mustang GT's come with V-6's. Put down the Motor Trend or the Import Tuner and learn something about Mustangs if you are going to jump into a conversation about them.
Even 03 Mach-1 Mustangs have run better times than mid-thirteens bone stock. I have personally seen 13.4's and have heard of noticeably faster than that. (supposedly they have done 12.9's on cheater's and have run 13.1's bone stock under prime conditions) A bone stock 03-04 Cobra with a decent driver is good for high twelves all day long. With as good driver and under the right conditions the car will run mid-twelves run after run. That's a long way from mid-thirteens wouldn't you say?
