Well I'm hunting for a mustang. And right now this is pretty much the only thing I can find. I have about 4grand, but since I'm 17 and my parents arepaying my insurance, I have to have airbags, so anywhere from 94 and up. And I decided on A V6 b/c of gas and to save myself from endless amounts of tickets and trouble. I definately have to have another stick again, and A/C .I think this sounds a little sketchy though. 2000 Mustand with out an ignition key? I dunno, New key would be like 20 bux but having it miled to fit the locks would be what like 200 form a dealership. I dunno about it, so I thought I'd ask yall. Can anyone help me?

some1 was telling me that the newer (not sure how new) mustangs have some kind of basic chip in the ignition key, and so u have to get it from a dealer. my gf's friend that works at ford i believe.

FYI i know the 93's came with an airbag, might have even been before that.

what if he got a whole new ignition? I don't know if that'd work b/c of the door locks being different but I'm sure it has keyless entry...

kinda depends on how many keys he wants and who's labor (ford's or a friend's)

Actually EVERY Mustang from 90 and up had air bags. That's when they stopped offering tilt wheel in the Fox bodies. Also, my opinion, it's not TRUELY a Mustang unless it has a V-8 in it.

It's true. I have a 99 GT, making the key was I think $55, and then programming the key was about $60-some. I remember it came up to about $115. I went to a professional locksmith and he told me only the dealer would be able to make the key for me. Definitely not $20. My 95 though was only like $5 :)

In my opinion, you can pick up a 90 5.0 for 4 grand or less in some cases. You will have air bags, a V8, and a car you will love forever. Gas mileage shouldn't be that bad, as long as you arn't always pedal to the metal.

man, not to bash or nothing, but i hate V6 mustangs or f-bodies for that matter.. they just plain suck.. If you want a mustang get a mustang.. 5.0's are real cheap and not so bad on the insurance cause they are older.. plus your under your parents insurance so it really wouldn't be much more than a normal car.. think of it this may, your not financing it so you don't have to get all the crazy insurance options.. just basic stuff.. trust me get a V8.. otherwise you might as well get something else cause theres no point.. Not to mention the V6 stangs aren't much better on gas regardless....

On the highway I average 20-22 MPG, in town I usually get around 13. I'm running an 850 holley, a TKO, and 3.55 gears out back. Your typical 5.0 with bolt-on's and EFI should manage better than what I get.

very true... www.50resto.com for a wheel that'll take a bag, then just go to Ford for an OEM bag, and wire that bitch up. hell, just leave it unwired, no risk it'll go off unexpectedly, and it wont' break your damn neck. wear your seatbelt =)
