Headlight Adjustment

Can someone tell me how to properly adjust the headlights on my '94 thunderbird. I know where the adjusters are and that all you need to do is turn them one way or the other. The problem is I do not want to just go in and start turning away not knowing which way Im aiming the light. Also are their and clips or anything I should remove befor adjusting?

As far as 8 turns up and 6 turns left, no. If you have a similar vehicle available (headlights are the same height off the ground) drive it up to a wall (20-25 feet away) some evening and turn the lights on. Mark the spot where the headlights hit then put your car in the same spot and align to the same pattern. The other choices are to buy an alignment tool of go to a shop and have them do it.
