i was hoping someone here could help me out i have a 2004 jeep wrangler it is 6 cyl and automatic love it but begining to hate it my first problem is at a light the truck will feel like it has a dead miss to it went to dealer 2 times says thats how they all are due to some emissions reasons so fine i can swallow that for now but now at highway speeds the jeep feels like it hits a brick wall at 80 mph the rpms dont go higher and the jeep doesnt go any faster but about 3 weeks before that it was able to do more then 80 and now it just sits there like a log oince it hits 80 you can have it floored and the rpms stay at the same level so it doesnt seem like it is slipping it just feels likeit isnt going anymore oh and the jeep has 1100 miles on it any help would be greatly appreciated thanks james

I wouldn't complain about a Wrangler doing 80 and no more. They aren't exactly built for that kind of speed and I wonder why the need for going that fast ??? Perhaps you need a different vehicle for the rush hour so you can enjoy your jeep for it's intended purpose.

Unfortunately, the Jeep Wrangler is the proverbial "brick" trying to push it's way through the air. 80 is about the top speed you want to cruise at - push any more and you can "feel" you are just using up more gas to go a tiny bit faster.
It was intended for off-roading or beach-cruising, not speed or fuel-efficiency.

I'd try another dealer or repair shop; I've got an 04 with a 4 cylinder that will do over 80 if you ask it, and the 6 has alot more power. And my wife had an 03 with the six, it never missed at a light. Go to a different dealer!!!
(For Windy: Of course, I do tend to use it for intended purpose, but those stock 215's will need some replacing, they're a bit small)
