My friend has a 90 Integra Gs and wants more power so he's decided on going with the CTR engine. I cant remember the code, it's either B16B or B18B, but He only needs the motor. Anyone know where he could get one cheap??? Just the motor!!! THx in advance!!!

For the price of a B16B, i'd be inclined to go with a B18C.

for the price of either i would go with a b16a and turbo

if he really wants to have some balls, he'll buy a h22a and make his engine bay custom. lol jk. not a bad idea though if he has alot of money.

B16b = waste of $$, the only reasson one woul dget it would to be to say "I have the CTR engine"............. yay

B16B engine = cool, but aside from the name...Whoop-dee-f'ing doo! (Where's that funny pic? Hehehe...) It's a waste of money. Just get a B18C1 and he'll be happier. :)

w/ the price of a ctr engine....he could buy himself a 1st gen b16 w/ around 2500-3000 worth of mods....probably would kill the b16b....or he could go w/ the b18c......or both.......ls/vtec......ooooooo

why are you bashing ppl who got the ctr motor?
First of all, it is not just a name to say wow i got it.
yea you can add 2500-3500 to a b16a and make it faster, but so what;
in the long run and if modded right the b16b will be a better choice because it has a bigger potential than the b16a.

Techinically, no it doesn't.
I can get my b16a to b16b spec just by adding b16b internals and the head. B16b power, done.
They have the same potential, either way you look at it.

well you are wrong
Advantage of B16b over the B16a :
1) Cylinder Head - Complete port & polish
2) Exhaust Valve Spring - High-lift, dual-layered spring
3) Sparkplug - High-heat-type #7 platinum plug
4) Pistons - High-compression, low-friction, custom pistons
5) Connecting Rod - High-output, high-durability, lightened, custom conrod
6) Engine Stiffener - Aluminum die-cast, high-durability, one-piece type
7) Crankshaft - Full-balancer, 8-weight, high-output, custom crankshaft
8) Inlet Valves - Lightened inlet valves
9) Inlet Valve Springs - High-lift, flat-surfaced, dual-layered spring
10) Camshaft - Wide-angled, high-lift, high-durability camshaft
11) Intake Manifold - High-RPM type.
the block on the b16b is the teg type r block and can withstand more of a beating than from the b16a block
also by the time you change all internals to ctr and dont forget the awesome lsd tranny that comes with it. you will have spent alot more

Me? Wrong?
Tell me, how many liters is the B16b?
I'll tell you, for a fact, right now.. it's NOT the same as an ITR block.
And half the stuff you listed up there can be found very cheap, and trust me... I can get my B16a above and beyond B16b spec for the difference in price...

O no - u can't port and polish a B16A head..it's impossible
headwork..whoa -- I can't go above and beyond that with Toda or JUN spec valves, valvesprings, cams...etc.
what is so custom about OEM Honda parts? I've never heard of buying them from SPW Industries or getting some JE pistons and JUN rods...
Engine Stiffener? WTH? What's that like? Britney Spears for your motor? :D
Of course..I can't blueprint/balance a B16A block..that's impossible too!
intake manifold - whoa! can't buy that!
The B16A head is made from the same mold as the B16B - so any B16B part that fits the cylinder head fits the B16A too...
Plus...you can just get custom 11.1:1 compression pistons from companies like JE/SRP.
The B16B and B16A have same potential.
The B16A is just a simpler/cheaper starting point.
No offense - I like the B16B as well.
It's just that claiming that someone is wrong and then saying stuff like that is just...wrong.
Gotta stick up for everyone my man.

You forgot how hard it is to get " Sparkplug - High-heat-type #7 platinum plug " :D
JK :)
Still for the money spent on an CTR engine, I'd be thinking B18 with mods.

first of all the b16b is 1.6l
The reason for this is because the crankshaft is a 16a crank but the block is a itr block
go do some research first before you judge how your b16a can be a b16b
another thing is that by the time you hook up your car from a b16a to a b16b you will have spent a ton more than that of buy the ctr engine.
dont bash the fact that you cant afford the ctr engine
anyways my reason for getting it is that, it was a 1000 less than the itr engine.

You my friend, are a idiot :D
No shit it's a 1.6L... the same damn thing as a B16a.
It is NOT a B18 block, or else it would be a 1.8L. a B16a Crank in a B18 block would actually give you closer to 2.0L of diplacement.... sorry budddy, all you have is a built up B16a block, and a better head. For the price of your engine, you could do all that (with aftermarket stuff) and more. Make it more powerful, and just as reliable.
haha.....B16 crank in a B18 block.... that was a good one :hehehe:

Do not call other members idiots, especialy when they are right and YOU ARE WRONG!
The B16b uses a B18c5 block, with crank and rods from a B16a. (its not the size of the block that determines displacment of an engine, but the size of the pistons, and the length of the stroke. Since the B16 and B18 engines use the same piston size, you can change engine capacity by simply changing the crank and rods.
VTEC- Boi why don't you go find the prices for getting a Port and polish on a B16a head to the same spec as the B16b? and the same for new cams, rods, crank, pistons, valves etc. I think you will find that at the end of the day its cheaper and easier to simply buy a B16b.
You have to remember that when you buy a B16b your getting a lot of exotic hand made parts, in a hand balanced and assemblyed engine.
Yes you could start with a B16a by the time you've paid for the balanceing and extra machine work I think you would find that your getting close to the cost of a B16b, and you still havnt got the head ported or even thought about new cams.
Then when the engine is together you have to get an ECU tuned to run it to its full potential, some thing the B16b alreadys comes with.
b16b bomber I aplogise for the ignorance displayed by other members in this thread, I should have seen to it sooner.
Everyone else b16b bomber is right! getting an extra reliable and thrashable 15hp out of a B16a is not as easy as you might think.
