Supra TT vs 3000GT VR4

I know iam in a supra forum so i expect alittle bit of bias oppinons but i just want to know who will win? I never incountered a supra yet. My car is pretty much stock except for just the basic like K/N cone filter and boost controller. Iam pretty sure i can take one off the line. But if iam on the highway or stop light to stop light who's gonna win me or the supra?

It depends if it's stock or not if it,stock to you should win.

The Supra would definatley take a 300GT VR-4. Well not the base 6cyl. The TT would take a VR-4.

But the base 6 would take a regular 300GT so it is fine.

Supra wins in both cases.

Not really...... From a stop the VR-4 will almost always win because it's four wheel drive, and stock they both have about the same power, so traction wins, I haven't seen those to cars race from a roll so I wouldnt know personally

to burst the VR4's bubble, stock for stock, the supra is going to win. Granted AWD does play a bid factor, but TQ and HP play a bigger factor which the supra has more than the VR4. The VR4 will win the 60ft and that's a bout it, the Supra TT was the fastest stock car of it's age until the evo and the wrx came out, but I might be mistakened on the wrx and evo.

Look at the car and driver website and look up the articles yourself, They rated the Supra higher than the VR4. Car and driver doesn't go all out with the cars they drive, but the driver who drove both at the time rated the supra higher than the VR4. You also have to factor in HP to weight ratio and other things, but overall the supra is faster stock.

i never said it wasn't faster, i said there hp and tq numbers are the same. and a supra vs a vr4 is more a drivers race no matter how you look at it. i've looked at c/d and they have the same numbers everyone else does 320 and 315 just like the vr4. you might be thinkin of teh 1st gen vr4's that had 300hp and 305tq but after 93 it went up to 320hp and 315tq, so that might be what your looking at

traction is not a problem with supras unless you launch it. my supra is stock and it hooks up every time. the vr4 is a fat ass (even more than a supra) so that hurts the acceleration. car and driver said the supra was faster than the vr4 and road and track said the same. i have raced a vr4 on the hwy and he got spanked. vr4s are nice cars what with all the features they have but i have heard a lot of tranny problems (typical of mitsubishi) and they just dont have the same sports car feel and potential of the supra.

well your right in a lot of ways, the vr4 has gone up to 750hp which is not lame at all, but nothing close to the supra. all around performance the supra is faster than the vr4, for one its a highway monster but the vr4 is set with very high gearing, so its alot faster than most think, yes heavy but, powerful. in the 1/4 mile its basically a toss up. i believe it was moter trend that tested them both and they both ran a 13.6, it was a tie between the 2. it really all depends on the driver when it comes down to the 1320

Who said VR4 is turbo-charged. I know some say that meanign twin turbo, but it sounded like you were saying single. Supra is twin also. 3.0L Inline six twin turbo (2JZ-GTE). 3000GT runs a Twin turbo V6. 4WD does not really help on a launch. If anything it is worse. The front tires get alought of slippage (loss of power) because of the weaight transfer to the rear. This is why all competative drag cars (besides the import stuff) are RWD. Plus the Supra makes its power at a lower RPM than the 3000GT. So the ones with a 6 speed will be even more deadly.

funny guy, first of all its awd not 4wd there's a difference. second there is no slippage with our cars you rev it to 5800rpm and drop it takes off with tire slippage at all, it is a proven fact that awd is better of the line than a supra, better of the line then basically anything in its class. need to go check your facts some more, and i'm very aware to fast autos.com you need to do somore research.

who told you supras shut off at 155? never heard that before. The vr4 will win off the line, no doubt about that but after about the 60 ft when the secondary turbo on a supra kicks in, there is a major difference in the supra. the best thing about a auto supra is that once you build your boost, it never lets go, you have it till you let off the gas. The vr4 will hold it's own but the supra will most likely win the race.

mk4 is governed at 155 but that can easily be changed :)

hmm just jumping in here. But what is the highes HP Supra w/upgrades out there that you have herd 1/4 mile times and Highway top speed?

Hey i know this is about a 3000gt vr4 and a supra buti gotta add something ive got a 300zx TT, boy do i love that car its amazingly fast, so fast that sometimes it scares me, ive got some extras on it too but to the point, ive raced a 3000 and killed it literally on the highway then at a light to light (same car too) and my buddys got a supra TT targa but never wants to race me because he doesnt wanna crash or something but i know thatd be a freakin insane race so im take sides with the supras here sorry 3000guys but ive raced a lotta 3000 and havent had problems with them at all.

welllll welll welll. Just so happens that I have BEEN in a VR-4 when it raced a supra TT. Both were stock, we were all friends so it was all set up, and Supra took it 3/3 times by about a car length or so. I love both cars....maybe the supra a little more :iceslolan . You have a good chance @15psi if the Supra is stock...

well stock for stock the supra should be able to beat the vr-4
they do have the same hp/tq rating but dont forget that the vr-4 is a little heavier

ummm...its all into the driver. but slightly towards Supra, highway: Supra, stoplight: VR4. Havent you guys seen that vid of a VR4 goin against that yellow Supra, and towards the end, the guys in the VR4 were like:"WHHHHHOOOOOOAAAA!!!" then the Supra FLEW past by them. BUT, i still think the Supra TT still gots it. Trust me, on the Highway, a VR4 has no chance against the Supra TT.

I'm pretty sure that the supra is faster. yes,they have the same horsepower and torque. but the 3000GT is very heavy and has wider gears. but it all depends on the driver.

Well i like both cars supra and the vr4. i know everybody will be happy if they would of have u 1 for free. both Twin Turbo Ummm..

all depends on the drivers and what speed they shut off.light to light vr4 open hyw supra, just that simple.

what about the dodge stealth, people say those are quicker then the supras also but i would say not, there just another fourm od the 3000gt

Whoever mentioned the red vr4 vs the yellow supra. That vr4 was my old car, I bought it off a 3si member who was in Atlanta,GA and he did that race in it. But the vr4 wasnt stock in that race neither was that supra. So end of story its a drivers race. But if you go stop light to stop light its going to be a vr4 winner or if u go from a highway roll supra will win. case closed

supra will win stock to stock cause they have the same TQ and HP but u have to look at the weight a 6spd tt supra vs a 5spd VR4 supra is very light

actually the vr4 came with a 6 speed starting in 94

i have owned a 3000gt vr-4 in the past and put down 490 AWD HP and i now own a 1997 T(t) supra...started TT and now down to huge single and it goes kinda like this

stock 95 vr-4 goes 0-60 in 5.4 secs 1/4 mile in 13.5
stock 95 TT Supra goes 0-60 in 5.1 secs and 1/4 mile in 13.5

So its all about who the better driver is in a 1/4 mile race i think a supra would beat a vr-4 in a 1/2 mile tho

Pretty much a driver's race.

0-60mph will be the supra and 60-100 will be the vr4.

I think on stop light to stop light ull take him because ur VR4 will take more kick witht he 4WD...but highway the supra will get u either way...dependign onthe distance u guys race...and i agree..it really depends on what the supra has or what u have...or maybe what kinan supra...i admit VR4's are one of the supras fears besides the viper...but its one of the good matchs supras have..so u really have a good chance :grinyes:
